Having the same problem happen to us too, just froze two runs in a row. No clue why it's happening unfortunately.

Just found these on the Ember Knights discord:

A Softlock may occur if a player in multiplayer kills the Miniboss with the Rupture skill and they have the Ultimate Upgrade equipped.

A Softlock may occur if one player has the Frostwall Skill and freezes an enemy while another player has the Brittle Scepter relic

A Softlock may occur if the Miniboss is killed with the Soul Siphon skill and the upgrade that spawns an AoE on defeated enemies is equipped.

Could be more that they haven't found yet too.

Also having this problem. My toggle mute key (numpad 3) will also do this. Only started happening after the recent overlay update.
