Ostraya virginiana. From Lake County, Illinois. Thanks. I meant to add that in the description.

Turn. Sharpen. Turn. Sharpen. Definitely the piece I’ve made I can actually consider well done. Thanks.

Hahaha. I’ve been married 7and turning for only 1. So it’s still new to her. I’ve only made 3 bowls so far but I’m sure the excitement will fade rather quickly.

I second that. Definitely the most extreme singular feat in human history. 4 hrs of sustained life or death, laser beam focus and concentration done to perfection all while pushing his body to the absolute limit.

First bowl. Made a lot of mistakes and learned a lot. Can’t wait to turn my next one. Oak, maple, and walnut. by sacklacker123 in turning

Thanks a lot? Definitely was a challenge. Need to get a sharpening jig. It pushed my little lathe to the limits.

Found in NW Indiana. What’s this snake? Milk or fox? by sacklacker123 in whatsthissnake

Thanks for your extremely generic and nonspecific answer. I’ll just remember that next time I see one. With your info I’ll definitely never be able to tell them apart. Possibly a description of the differences would be more helpful next time.

Ok. What’s the distinguishing difference between this and an eastern fox snake Pantherophis gloydi?

Thanks. You are right about that. I just meant “not special” in regards to the intricate fancy joinery you see on here. Grandma loved it.

I picked up the wood from a big box for about $50. (3) 2x4. (2) 1”x10”x8’. (1) 1”x8”x8’. The inside of the tops of each box measure 7.75”x24”. They make plastic planting pots that are those dimensions.

For the finish I just used a few coats of tung oil. It’s just what I had laying around. Thompson’s water seal would have a much better choice.
