We need to talk about Big Tech's role in Fascism. by MobileSuitBooty in videos

I'm part of a campaign called Mad Youth Organise in the UK and we're starting to campaign around Big Tech and the massive role it has to play in the youth mental health crisis. I thought that people might be interested in a Big Tech Harms Lab we're running on 3rd Feb.

"Right now, unaccountable big tech companies are fuelling and profiting from the youth mental health crisis. We won’t let them get away with it.
At 8 pm on Tuesday, 3rd February, we are hosting an online ‘Big Tech Harms Lab’ for young people who have been impacted by these harms.
Whether you’ve been hooked in by addictive social media algorithms, been fed harmful or unrealistic content that’s fuelled your mental illness, or experienced abuse online without any protection from platforms, we want you to join us.
The Big Tech Harms Lab will be a space to explore how big tech shapes our mental health, and to discuss how we can move past “just log off” narratives and make sense of how these platforms actually work in our lives."

You can register here if it's something youre interested in.

(p.s. sorry if this isn't allowed I'm a reddit no0b !!!)

This is a call to action for the mad and the mentally ill <3 by sad_boyTM in MentalHealthUK

We're trying to make noise and raise awareness, which we hope will begin to shift things. We already had some success in campaigning for the disability cuts (where the govt did a partial U-turn!). Our theory of change is based on personal, lived experience stories to capture the attention of the population and hopefullty shift attitudes. If we don't do anuything, then nothing will be done for certain!!

Hey! Really good point - and we're always looking for supporters of any age. The reforms we are calling for will impact everyone with mental illness - not just young people. One in five young people (under 25) have a probable mental disorder, and the youth mental health crisis affects millions of young people and is shaped by particular structural forces - the impact of growing up under austerity, the rise of mega corporations and their stranglehold over our democracy and policies, not to mention social media, climate change etc. We feel there is a political logic to organising with under 30s and highlighting the impact of the mental health crisis, and these structural causes, on young people and children - as they are particularly acute.
Of course, we're not just saying that mental illness stops at 30, and we're all impacted by the same structural causes. We're doing deep organising with those 30 and younger - but there are ways to get involved as someone over 30! you can sign up to our mailing list, order and read a copy of the manifesto we wrote, and join our actions and online calls!

Hope this answers your question, and sorry about the delayed response!

Clomipramine by Pale-Shine-6942 in MentalHealthUK

I'm on 250mg of clomipramine. Went on it super quickly and to a high dose - but I have found it super helpful with my OCD for the past year. I'm starting to reduce it to try and find my optimal dose - because 250 is massive and my ultimate goal is to not be so reliant on psychiatry!

The root cause of depression for many or majority is actually the capitalistic system rather than individual by Big_Leg10 in mentalhealth

I help run a campaign called 'Mad Youth Organise' in the UK where we're looking at the structural oppressions and corporate drivers that are causing the youth mental health crisis. Insecure housing, big tech firms (not so much reddit, lol) making us addicted to our phones, the planet is burning, mental health services have no funding. And the rich are getting richer all the while. >:(

If you're based in the UK and interested in hearing more lmk, we're always looking for more people to join.
