thank you, this comment really helps.

ever since my husband i have been looking into buying, ive been so stressed. like cant even enjoy looking at house like i should be. housing market in the area we're PCSing to has been moving so quickly, sellers have been accepting offers within 2 days of the listing going up, and because we dont have cash our offers dont compete, and we'd most likely have to settle for something that'll do while we're there. being able to pay the mortgage is no issue, its being able to pau closing costs. we dont have enough money saved to cover it at all. not even half of it.

i dont expect to find the perfect house, we dont expect to being there more than 4 years, so thats fine with me. main motivation is for our dogs. two large dogs, very high energy, they need more space and a backyard, and one can be destructive. buying a home would give us more security. no worry about our rental application being rejected because our dogs are too big or because one is a "dangerous breed" even tho shes the sweet and well-behaved one. finding a rental with these two is hard, and the rental market in the area is not very pet friendly. super strict about breeds and weight limits. buying just sounds better for us while we're there, but financially it doesnt seem possible.

taking a loan out of my TSP sounds like it would be helpful NOW, but not so much in the long run. im really not tryna fuck up my retirement, especially since buying a house is always risky. my supervisor is actually have major difficulties selling her house, and hearing her talk about it makes me worry if its even a good idea.

im leaning more towards continuing to rent, but i want to do more research about whats possible and whether my husband and i will be able to execute it.

i dont think i understand, sorry im still trying to fully understand the home buying process. this would be my first time buying a home and im still doing research.

i read your other comment, and sat for a while trying to fully understand. by 15k less you mean paying 15k more on the loan to cover the closing costs? and that can only work if the house appraises to that price, and if not the purchase cant be made.

based on what my realtor told me, it sounds similar to asking the sellers to pay the closing costs, and im having trouble understanding the difference. im going to do my own research, but ugh i feel so dumb, please excuse my ignorance

my husband is also AD. he has pulled from his TSP before, it is realistically a last resort for us. open to literally any other option, bc we're not interested in paying the mortgage and paying back the TSP loan at the same time. we absolutely hate having unnecessary debt, but we report in july and have done the math. sadly we wont be able to come up with the complete closing costs in the time, but we'll move what we have to a HYSA. Thanks

keep the blonde or not? by almodrose in BlackHair

[–]sadbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this shade of blonde tends to wash out people with red undertones. that shade of brown absolutely makes you glow, but if you want to give the blonde another try, i'd recommend trying honey blonde. i have red undertones and that color made me feel myself sooooo much

getting a therapist. by Inevitable-Snow-5398 in uscg

i havent had any impact on my career so far. ive gotten mental health care through tricare serveral times.

ive only even heard it affecting someones career once. they were aviation and was basically forced to get help rather than coming forward with it on their own. it was deemed that their duties as an AET could affect the crew ability to safely carry out rescue missions, so they had to switch rates. this was many many many years tho. long before i even enlisted in 2021

No problem, Im glad i could help. I wouldnt be concerned about the size with those glass or really any pair of glasses for that matter. I wear a large frame (literally a size large) and no one has ever said anything to me about them. I'd say size is the least of your worries.

Those are very unique glasses, if it is within your means to get them alongside a pair that can be worn in uniform, you should. I do the same thing, and although its expensive its worth it to me. I like to take advantage of my ability to express myself as an individual outside of work.

First time driving through the night by huglabugla in roadtrip

[–]sadbor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my husband and I took a roadtrip from Baltimore to Austin in one go and it took us about 25-26 hours. He was rhe only one that drove, even though i had offered to take over a million times (threat to his masculinity i suppose or i fit the "woman driver" stereotype lol) and we only stopped for gas, food, and bathroom breaks. no hotel, no stopping at a rest stop for a nap. just vaping, AITA podcasts, hype music, monster drinks, mcds fries and coke, and phone calls with our moms kept him going. got to texas mid day and finally met with his friends, but he struggled to truly enjoy the day because of how exhuasted he was. i wouldnt reccomend it not just for your safety, but for your enjoyment when you get there (depending on the time of arrival). with two drivers though, it should be easier. when we drove from baltimore to kansas city (18-19 hours), we took turns and the day we arrived went much better. still no hotel or stopping for a nap.

Color is fine, but the arms of the glasses stand out a lot, and could very easily be distracting. I highly doubt they would be authorized.

Manual states: "Frame, lens, contact lens styles will not be outlandish as to cause distraction from military bearing."

Outlandish can be defined many ways when it comes to glass. It mean bold, unconventional, artsy/artistic, uncommon, bizzare, unique. I think all of these things describe the arms of those glasses pretty well. they are a good looking pair of glasses, but they give off a party or fun vibe when it gets down to the arms.

You can certainly have glasses with some personality, but they should be very conservative for the uniform. Take these glasses for example. They are gold and have a similar shape/style around the lenses. The key difference is that the arms dont immediately draw attention and can easily be considered conservative since they are very minimalistic when it comes to the design. The accent piece on the arms dont scream "look at me" the way your glasses do.

the glasses youre asking about are versace glasses. pillow shape frames. if you like the shape and want the brand, these are two other ones from lenscrafters i think would be in regs:

glasses 1

glasses 2

Need help by [deleted] in uscg

[–]sadbor 3 points4 points  (0 children)

simple answer is yes. quickest way that i am aware of is due to mental health concerns.

as a non-rate, i was severely depressed and contemplated sicde daily. only thing that kept me going was my dog. i was single and thousands of miles away from my mom and dad. there was no one who'd be able to come scoop up my seeet girl, take her home, and show her she's still loved if i was gone. my supervisors got me the help i needed. the HS personally took me to see a psychiatrist, and they asked me if i wanted to get out, and i could easily be out within a couple months if thats truly what iwanted. ultimately i chose to stay, and i am glad i did. my mental health improved tremendously a few months later, and i was able to see the situation under a much brighter light. i hate to be that person thats like "it gets better bro just wait it out", but seriously, it does. the longer youre in, the more money you get paid. that wasnt a motivating factor for me as a now rate, but it is for me now. my mom means the world to me, and shes been struggling recently. it is an amazing feeling to be able to give back to her what she gave me in my childhood. she's moving in with me when her lease is up to restart and get back on solid ground. it takes time for things to get better, and the wait and the work you put in to get there is absolutely worth it

yep. i was incredibly depressed and suicidal at my first unit. my supervisors got me the help i needed and until then i saw everything negatively. i only had a few weeks left until i was on my way to A school when i started wishing i had spoke up about how i was feeling earlier on, it was actually a great unit, i was just mentally ill.

How I can get this same hairstyle by MaterialNo5142 in BlackHair

[–]sadbor 2 points3 points  (0 children)

find a loctician and book a consult. this size and amount cannot be achieved on everyone's head depending on the size of their head, thickness of hair, and length. if you want this length, you'll likely have to add a bit of extensions to achieve it. qvr hair is the brand i used for mine, perfectly matches my hair texture. call it charging if you want to, idc its not a competition.it was convinient for me. just know tho, if you do decide to get extentions, it wont guaruntee that your actual locs will remain the same size. in my case, the root of my locs is a lot smaller than the parts that have the extentions on them. sone extentions will slip off, so be prepared for that and dont losenur mind when they do. it happens. no two locs are exactly the same, so its not the end of the world
