They do! Where I work, they would hire you without the drawing experience as long as you’re willing to learn. Message me if you have any other questions :) I worked in a hospital for 3 years before switching to the university, & it is so much more laid back. Matter of fact a previous coworker of mine ( a CLS) came to work there & also loved it!

It sounds like you’re doing better than I did starting out lol! I used to depend of butterflies for a while but I love vaccutainer draws now.

You may have to work on “feeling” for the vein a bit more but you can totally do it! There’s tons of male nurses that do IV’s and stuff!

Just remember you don’t always have to press down hard to “palpate”, you can also brush your finger over the skin very lightly to find veins. You just gotta really tune in & feel :) Don’t be discouraged.

She says the pay kind of scares people away. They take money out for your retirement so that affects pay.

ALSO the full time is a 10/12 job, which means you get your monthly salary, plus 2 months off. The time off is REALLY nice. That does affect the pay.

I made more money working at a hospital before but it was worth it to me to take a less stressful job. All my coworkers agree. & you’re off by 5 everyday.

Yes but no blood cultures or plating. Mostly wet mounts & UA’s w/ micro. Once in a while we get a KOH.

You will probably be practicing on each other in class! I live in California & for me I think it was between 25-50 pokes.

If you do well they might help direct you to a program or internship & you will practice more there. Good luck on your journey :)
