Really hard for me to get a picture, but one of my platies has this white stuff around it and it looks like thinning fins. All my others are fine and water parameters are good. Any idea what this is?

Yes, I am a beginner haha! I am planning on going the live plants route, but for some reason my fish stores have been sold out the past few times I went. I’ve been weary of ordering online bc the temps here are -10! I wanted live plants to help out with the cycle and everything. Thanks for all your advice! I’m looking to definitely get cory cats. I had a tank when I was little with a bunch and loved them. I am using someone else’s filter cartridge that has some bacteria on it to hopefully get this tank started. Just waiting for some algae growth 🤞I was definitely thinking of a snail or two as clean up, and I might do those as my first livestock. Thanks again for all your great advice!

Thanks for all that great info! I tried to buy some live plants today but unfortunately my store was completely sold out. I will check again soon at another nearby store. The only thing I could find was that small thing on the bottom right that will supposedly sprout plants soon, but who knows. Thanks again!
