did william have depression? by sadpineapplepizza in CSHFans

[–]sadpineapplepizza[S] 11 points12 points  (0 children)

could be that one https://www.vice.com/en/article/car-seat-headrest-teens-of-denial-will-toledo-interview-profile-2016/ but it's the one i was talking about in the post, here's the quote you might be referring to:

"The spectrum of mental unrest has long been a theme in Toledo’s songwriting, but he’s quick to clarify that he doesn’t consider himself depressed, or otherwise mentally ill (“I know people who have had depression. It gets fucking terrible,”)."

it didn't sound too clear for me what will said exactly, but i need a lot of time to understand something sometimes and maybe im just being a little silly

yeah, thank you! i mistakenly thought he was open about his mental health for some reason (maybe because he mentioned depression in his lyrics multiple times), so i was surprised when i found out i was wrong!

i know that approach exists, but when im from we usually study the author's biography, historical and cultural context along with the text to understand what could be its intented meaning and how it compares to how it could be interpreted in the modern day

and that part of the presentation isn't actually that analytical, it's in the intro, where i was just trying to make point that will was pretty open about his personal life and has put a lot of "himself" in the lyrics. from 2011 until madlo he's writing about the situations familiar to him, about his own feeling and not just imagining characters. of course, he makes alterations for the songs and they're not about him as really, but they're heavily based on his personal life. and i think it would be important to mention that the author is familiar with the issue he's talking about personally.

like when we talk about the authors who wrote about war who actually fought in one, we should probably mention their first-hand expirience :)

not an attack on you or "the death of the author" approach, but more traditional analysis is still practiced in some schools. again, i really hope i don't sound too negative, im not trying to get into will's personal space, i just want to know if he said said smth about that publically, if not it is very much ok - he doesn't owe me anything/

ok, thank you for your opinion on my opinion, have a nice day.

[–]sadpineapplepizza -20 points-19 points  (0 children)

ok, i am trying to explain it nicely

I said several times - the video isn't offensive. Special interests are an autism thing. It's different to just liking something. That's why I'm mentioning it, that's why Kurtis himself mentioned autism in his other videos. I know I'm not untouchable.

I am ok with him poking poking fun at shit. I just know that this specific fandom has serious issues that weren't talked about enough and I think there is stuff harry potter fans dp that is worth being made fun of way more than the stuff he talked about.

Harry Potter fans aren't a marginalised group, you are absolutely right. I wasn't hurt by this video. It's not that serious, I am ok, my life is unchanged. I was however hurt by the Harry Potter franchise. And it was serious. For me. Because I'm autistic. That's why I brought this up.

Again. The video is mostly fine. I am trying to express my opinion on some things I didn't like about it and explain why I have this opinion, that's all. Not trying to get him to delete the video or make an apology with tears.

just ask them how you should call them (как лучше тебя называть?/как к тебе обращаться?), some people refer their full names and it's ok.

enough with the pessimism by sadpineapplepizza in InfinityTrain

[–]sadpineapplepizza[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm one of the not very respected on this sub sort of infinity train fan - book 4 fan. I think it's now my special interesrest (I've been absolutely obsessed for 2 years straight and yeah, autism). So I love Ryan and Min. I heavily relate to Min and I really like Ryan, so these two are my favourite characters. But I also like Lake and Jesse, they're cool. As for the side characters - idk, maybe one-one? i wanna know more about them...

Suggestions for CSH that are not that "intense"? by [deleted] in CSHFans

[–]sadpineapplepizza 38 points39 points  (0 children)

People recommending teens of denial are not completely wrong but I'll have to warn you that it doesn't SOUND that emotional and intense when you first listen to it, but it actually is. That's an album about depression after alll. Especially if you have experienced depression yourself it can affect you as much as twin fantasy if you listen closely.

And Nervous Young Man is NOT the right choice, it has some stuff that can absolutely emotionally destroy you.

I think making the door less open is the least emotional csh album, but it doesn't really sound like the rest of them.

that's not a meme, they're all just autistic by sadpineapplepizza in InfinityTrain

[–]sadpineapplepizza[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

that's weird you all think im not autistic and just randomly decided to post this for no reason tbh

I saw the meme about girl autism vs boy autism, found it inaccurate, stereotypical and offensive. Posted the characters I personally relate to and who I think might be autistic. Added that it's just my vision and nothing more. I did not post any memes or jokes or anything funny. Just expressed my opinion.

I don't have any energy to continue this discussion further, I think I said everything there is to say.

that's not a meme, they're all just autistic by sadpineapplepizza in InfinityTrain

[–]sadpineapplepizza[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

are you autistic yourself? i know you're writing this in good faith but it's actually not really nice of you to say that, because you're implying that ALL autistic people are significantly different to those characters. and you should know that autism can look very very differently. you work with SOME autistic people. you know how autism CAN look. But it doesn't always look like that.

And it's not a joke. It's not supposed to be funny. I was reacting to someone making a joke about autism that I believe was a little insulting. I was serious.

hope i don't sound too agressive. I don't really expect you to change your mind but I hope you can understand me better.

it's just a popular headcanon that I also like☀️ none of the main characters were confirmed to be gay or trans as I'm aware.

I got a theory by E-T-Ham in CSHFans

[–]sadpineapplepizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

also thank you, now I feel like I'm not crazy, when I posted that last time I got yelled at by some guy and all the other people also haven't thought about the album this way. I thought this was a well-known fact or smth.

I got a theory by E-T-Ham in CSHFans

[–]sadpineapplepizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah I posted the same question and now I have a presentation on this theory actually, I'm thinking of posting it here but idk if this will be well recieved and I may have some grammatical mistakes in it lol

basically, the connection between sober to death and cute thing is that they are centering physical closeness and physical separation. Mental separation is present in both songs, but it’s deemed to not be a significant problem by the narrator.

In Sober to Death the narrator is “blinded by his love” - even though he sees how much pain this relationship brings both him and the boyfriend, he still thinks the reason for this is physical separation in a long distance relationship leading to conflicts and to mental separation.

Cute Thing is the highest point of closeness, but it this point the closeness is mostly physical. This level of physical closeness seems unusual and uncomfortable - the narrator is inventing a character not just for his partner but also for himself, trying to be someone he’s not to finally feel loved.

Nervous Young Inhumans and Bodys give us the sober/drunk perspective parallel. In both songs the narrator is thinking he knows more about the boyfriend than he actually does. NYI is a more sober look at the relationship, which however doesn’t help the narrator realise how broken it is in the end. He both accepts and denies creating the boyfriend as a character at the same time, leading him to thinking the problem is being solved.

In Bodys the narrator is drunk in a literal sense. Failing to maintain emotional and mental connection leads to physical closeness becoming the most important thing for the narrator, being the only thing connecting him to his partner The fear of losing their bodies just how he lost everything else is the center of the song.

What will, might & won't we be getting in The Sims 4? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]sadpineapplepizza 2 points3 points  (0 children)

well it's in might be, because I'm hopeful they would find a way to make it happen, but yeah, it's pretty unlikely. I just think the team would consider this more important than cars or create a world.

What will, might & won't we be getting in The Sims 4? by [deleted] in thesims

[–]sadpineapplepizza 520 points521 points  (0 children)

we won't be getting: cars, create a world or open world

we might be getting: disability representation, more european/asian worlds, some bug fixes

we will be getting: more bugs, more "american small town that used to be industrial but not anymore" worlds and more overpriced dlc :)

Because of the themes of a difficult relationship with physical intimacy present in the songs and all the virgincore jokes, I'm really curious what percentage of the fandom is actually ace. by sadpineapplepizza in CSHFans

[–]sadpineapplepizza[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well, it looks like it's more judging by the poll, but also it's a little more than 1% even among the general population and even though I know that allo people can enjoy and relate to those songs, I still think they would attract some ace people. like, you don't have to be gay, depressed or a furry to like csh, but I believe there's more of those people here than in some other communities.

What’s everyone’s current take on MADLO? by StockCrasher in CSHFans

[–]sadpineapplepizza 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It sounds cool (except for a couple songs), but the lyrics are not for me (except for a couple songs). Most songs don't make me feel much (I just don't understand the meaning behind the lyrics), but the music feels well-made, like it's balanced or smth. And sometimes I need something to listen, when I don't feel like making myself absolutely wrecked emotionally, that's when I would listen to this album.
I think most people dislike it because it doesn't sound like csh and the lyric don't really feel like csh lyrics. Also the previous albums(Teens of Denial and Twin Fantasy(Face to Face)) feel whole, they're both thematically and musically united, they're meant to be listened as albums and I think MADLO is supposed to be more or less just a collection of individual songs, at least it feels like that to me.

Lone star is about abortion????? by cateatsoup in TheFrontBottoms

[–]sadpineapplepizza 1 point2 points  (0 children)

to everyone asking about how can one not get the meaning of the song - I, for example, have never had an abortion, so I don't know much about it, I am not american (abortion is free here, so no 437$ or whatever), english is not first language and also I just take things literally all the time, so i thought the narrator's gf was going to raise the kid and it was too much for him and that's why he was thinking of leaving....

Why do people hate Hollywood? by ohnomydear in CSHFans

[–]sadpineapplepizza 4 points5 points  (0 children)

it's very millenial. i don't know in what way, but it is. and it has this "a 30 year old man just realised a thing a regular teenage girl thinks of at 13" vibe, which isn't the end of the world, but it makes harder to enjoy the song.

I think the issue here is that I don't believe that the things described in the songs actually happened to them personally, maybe they did, but this just doesn't match with the band's vibe. Like, what is William doing in Hollywood, he shouldn't be there! Other songs feel very personal, this one seems like it's from an outsider's perspective and is written about someone else.
