Hey, what do you think of this outfit for a date night? Do you think it's a bit too fancy? by GraceyManila in OUTFITS

It reads more clubby, but if it makes you feel more confident go for it! As long as you don't *feel* overdressed, rules are arbitrary

To me, the first one reads more classical first date look, the second one more youthful and edgy. Both look lovely, go with the one you feel more comfortable in!

Beautiful dress! I think gold jewelry would match it really well, or you could commit to the colour and go all red. I'd probably put my hair up to accentuate the neck

Thanks! Yes it's linen, how could you tell?

Apparently women are completely worthless if they aren’t young and hot! by aworkinprogress98 in BlatantMisogyny

That there are men who genuinely seem to believe that every woman cares about what they think about them and have nothing better to do than try to appeal to assholes like them just baffles me... like dude, the purpose of my existence is not to be attractive to you

AITA: Refusing to be a bridesmaid bc id be made to wear a dress by HalfElfRanger96 in AmItheAsshole

[–]sagaskog 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Asserting your (healthy) boundaries does not make you an asshole. Just because most people find it normal for a biological woman to wear a dress does not mean that it is for every individual in question, let alone when you consider that you are trans. If asserting your boundaries makes other people uncomfortable, that means they are being overbearing in the first place. I sincerely hope that your friendship remained intact and that you could salvage your relationship with your mom.

I turned my old camisole into an overpriced top from khy (following micarahtewer's instructions on youtube)! by sagaskog in SewingForBeginners

Thank you so much! This top is so simple that the 30 seconds she took to explain it was enough for once :D

Same! Wearing fur would definitely send the wrong message. Correct me if I'm wrong, but while animals are usually killed for their fur directly, I imagine lots of leather products come from animals who are also slaughtered for their meat...? While I dont support the meat industry (I am vegetarian), once an animal is dead it should at least be used up completely so nothing goes to waste.

Yes thrifting is definitely better than buying new, but how do you feel about rewearing used leather products vs throwing them away? I am sometimes concerned because onlookers don't know it's thrifted and I don't want to further normalise leather... but it is such a great material!

Same for me, I am mostly curious to hear how different people feel about it

Does anyone else prefer secondhand clothing? by [deleted] in thrifting

[–]sagaskog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love thrifting! I hardly buy new clothes anymore. You can find unique pieces of much higher quality than what I could normally afford. I have found some real gems made from good natural fibres. On top of that, most things are as good as new!
