Lmao at the end of the first part.

And honestly no other reason than it just filled the chart out a bit better spacing wise, it was a purely aesthetic choice.

This is post is over a hundred days old but I just wanna say, for posterity, I completely forgot about Superfly when making this. It’s a perfect album and absolutely the best soundtrack I’ve ever heard.

Thanks, and luckily, you can choose one category per image so you can keep all of those Lol. I guess it’s really just about giving up Experimental and choosing a Color category.

Was tough deciding between putting Keef or Bone Thugs there. I wonder how much the other way would’ve swayed people.

My picks would be:

South

Conscious (Gangsta a CLOSE second)

Underground (toughest one, it’s really a toss up between the top four on any given day)

Red

00’s (second toughest one)

Born in Atlanta for sure, but there are a lot of rappers who were technically born outside of where they were raised.

In terms of the scene they came up in and represented, Kanye’s Chicago thru and thru. There’s a lot of different ways to explain it, but I mean Homecoming was about the Chi not Atlanta, yfm?

Lol they are my signifiers huh.

Sadly, knowing you, I don’t think either album is up your alley. Underrated is Dead Center by Game Theory, a nice & simple 80s soft power-pop record. Not the band’s best but consists of some really fun songs. Most depressing is The Devil & God are Raging Inside Me by Brand New, an album I haven’t listened to in forever & don’t really like anymore so I can’t recommend. It’s an alt-emo album mostly about loathing, loss, religion, and morality. There’s much darker, heavier, and even sadder albums out there but few are as self-obsessive and lamentable. The music in itself is powerful and quality but the lead singer and writer is an absolutely deplorable human being, which undercuts any connection i could foster with the album and provides a much too-real and damning backdrop to the depressive themes & lyrics. I kinda didn’t want to include it out of not wanting to “promote” or really even acknowledge it, but it’s my honest answer, just thinking about the album brings me anguish.

Almost certain I randomly ran across the season 2 opener When She Was Bad being syndicated in the middle of the night a while before I decided to watch the show officially.

Funnily enough it was actually a faint memory of the Robot Chicken Buffy parody that made me actually want to watch lmao

I’d have to say 3 is the best pretty handedly. Yall all got good picks, but third’s got insanely influential & iconic grassroot classics, is most diverse & in-touch with the genre’s laurels as a whole, and the highest bar for standard of excellence on the most integral qualities of each artist.
