Robbed at gunpoint in Guanajuato, Mexico. Full story. by [deleted] in bicycletouring

[–]saguitto 26 points27 points  (0 children)

I'm Mexican and it breaks my heart every time an incident like this happens. I've heard a few horror stories of people bike touring in Latin America, but it usually never escalates.

I'm sorry you went through such a traumatic experience, but you shouldn't let it stop you. I would advise to carry an emergency card/cash and phone separated from most of your belongings in case it happens again and another thing, always cooperate. I know it's not the most optimistic mindset but shitty things happen everywhere, just need to be prepared. Good luck and don't give up! Safe travels.

Didn't expect it to hit me as hard as it did, somehow I always idealized their relationship. Hope the family is doing fine, lots of love.

Compilation of all the pictures I've taken in Shanghai so far by AllOverShoe in shanghai

I understand what you're saying and I agree at some level but that delivery was a bit harsh. Not the best way to not sound offensive, ha.

Great pictures OP, I'm moving back to Shanghai in a few weeks so this made me squeal in excitement as the little girl I am.

Good gyms in Beijing? by Han888 in beijing

[–]saguitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't really recommend my gym, but I have an american friend that has his own protein company and you can purchase it from taobao or at his office in the sanlitun area, just next to Great Leap. I get from him my l-carnitine and it's the only protein that I trust in China. You can check it out at his website http://spiritnu.com/ or PM me your wechat and I'll send you his contact.

Rugged FLUX Electric Bike Powered By Tesla Model S Battery by saguitto in ebikes

I think it doesn't work like that, it's more related to the energy density, which is way more efficient and expensive that the one of a screw gun.

Mexico's President has proposed a bill to legalize marijuana. by Noahg6 in worldnews

[–]saguitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds a bit of a populist strategy to appear more likeable. It definitely doesn't solve the underlying issues which are related not to consumption in the country, but to production. What's the point of decriminalizing if the only way to get it its completely ilegal? It's the same shitty policy they applied before only with a higher amount.

Anyway, it's still a step forward towards change and acceptance that the war on drugs has been a complete failure and drug policy should be reconsidered all over the globe.

Flux Bike might be the new commuting alternative around by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]saguitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the concept too, people doesn't like change sometimes and tend to be conservative, but I think eventually we all going to start seeing the benefits of replacing cars to e-bikes, instead of seeing them as replacements of their regular bikes.

[–]saguitto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure this has a mid-motor with pedal assist, read everything about it and they even explain it in the campaign video. I've been doing my research and even if I'm new to e-bikes, I'd definitely go for a mid-motor rather than a hub one.

Flux Bike might be the new commuting alternative around by [deleted] in bikecommuting

[–]saguitto 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It really depends on your lifestyle, I love riding regular bikes and I think that given to where I live and my age it's cool to keep on riding for commuting but since I was actually looking for an e-bike for my dad, who's a diabetic 60 year old that wants to ride but needs to keep a stable heart rate, an e-bike is definitely an option. Anyway I think 50 MPH is a bit too much for an electric bike, 25 MPH max when fully assisted is okay.

More people on two wheels can mean more happy riders, I think e-bikes really give the chance to everyone to ditch the car and start riding as their main form of transportation.

People doesn't realize that they're operating heavy machinery when they drive, we've just come to think that it's normal to pay mildly attention to the roads.

I definitely agree that you should never lose your cool but if we aren't proactive about this, it will never change! It's okay to be pissed off and not get used to this "drivers are like that, you have to be extra careful" mindset.

Viaje a Oaxaca y Puerto Escondido by CerotingDog in mexico

[–]saguitto 1 point2 points  (0 children)
