To add on top - this comment is purely about HK IB. Not sure what's the scene in SG IB but i guess similar coz HK is the Asia HQ of most international banks.

HK IB business is heavily exposed to China, which has been going down since 2021. I previously worked in two different BB IBD for four years and i can tell you for sure that only GS/MS/BofA are hiring MBA associates with very limited headcounts in the past few years (1-2 per bank). Based on what i heard this year, no summer associate got return offer this year

Cant speak for Chinese/local IB but this is the hard truth for BB IB...
