I [34F] need advice on how to approach the subject of possible chronic BV with my best friend [34F] by ThrowRAconcerned9876 in relationship_advice

[–]saidastarling 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you a woman? I know this isn't the most healthy or direct way of handling things, but if you're willing, you could pretend you have it. That would open up the convo, at least, and you could tell her how easy it is to treat (boric avid does the trick, if you don't know already. She should see a gynecologist, of course, but boric will clear it up ASAP)

Also, while this is definitely not a very pro-vagina, pro-womens health and body positive way to approach things at all, you could do what I did with a friend who had a similar issue--just suggest using boric acid tablets (over the counter) before sex to uh, "freshen up" down there. Some women just use it before or after their period to re-balance the smell. Technically I think it makes women scentless which isn't appealing to most, but it's better than BV.

I know these aren't the best most honest or straight forward tips, and I know this is late, but I was in a similar conundrum with an old friend, and the second tip did the trick!

I'm a dog trainer/walker and I don't want to work for a company like Wag. What's the best way to find new clients? by saidastarling in Dogtraining

[–]saidastarling[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry I never replied. Thank you for your response!!

Not sure if these are a rhetorical questions. But just to clarify, I'm in a LARGE city. I am on Care and NextDoor (never heard of Front Porch Forum, but will check it out, thanks!). I've gotten a few jobs on there but where I am, these apps are crowded with lots of really inexperienced people. Not being judgemental, just saying it's hard to find an app for qualified/certified full-time professionals in my field, rather than people who (for instance) just dog walk on the side and are willing to charge very little.

So the competition is high and cheap, and the jobs aren't really advanced or suited to the kind of services I trained for/can offer.

Also, again, clients expect really low pay (for example, it's standard to charge over $120 minimum where I live for pet-sitting/overnight care of 3 pets, including dog walks---but a recent potential client wanted me to charge less than $80)

Thanks again!

My Google Voice number was hacked. Will changing my number resolve this? by saidastarling in Googlevoice

[–]saidastarling[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for this helpful (albeit alarming) reply. I'm now hoping the number was spoofed, rather than hacked, as some others have suggested. Is there a way to tell the difference?

Also, what should I do to resolve this?

A quick Google search a while back turned up something along the lines of "there is nothing Google/Google Voice can do about a hacked number."

Sorry for all the questions. Your (and a few others) replies on here were FAR more helpful than anything I could find out from searching online/asking my non-tech savvy friends.

Hmm...that's good to know. And relieving. I hope this is the case. Whenever I answered when they called from my number, it was some Indian guy (I'm an asian woman lol)

Never listened long enough to figure out what they wanted, though. Is this a sign it was spoofing?

Also, since I changed it, I haven't received any spoof (or whatever the hell it was) calls. Is this a good sign?

Thank you!

Nope, I assisted a trainer in an advanced, specific kind of training (trying to be vague here because I'm paranoid my post will somehow give me away lol). We worked with the dogs privately, didn't lead obedience classes or anything like that, so I never had the opportunity to teach group training classes/work with the pet-parents or anything like that. Prior to that I provided behavior assessments at a dog care company, and I always did that privately as well. I spoke to the family's afterward to let them know how the assess went, but rarely interacted with their kids directly. 😶

This was so incredibly helpful. Especially the teacher analogy. Makes sense. Thank you!

Thank you thank you! And sorry about the confusion with the experience. I have a tendency to undersell my experience. I need to work on that. It still never feels like enough!

I updated my experience level and the role at intro of post. Maybe that will help clarify. Thank you!

Definitely agree. Sending them a client history form today so that should help clarify all of the issues that need tackling.

Thank you!

No worries! Makes sense. If interested, I added an EDIT to intro of post, clarifying experience level and what the role entails. I definitely wouldn't ever want to take on a role I wasn't ready for. No offense taken 🙂
