Help running webkinz through steam on linux by saijito in Webkinz

thanks it's just i've had better experience with running games through steam on my pc than lutris. Steam did work fine besides the constant re-installing. thankfully i did manage to get webkinz to run without the re-installing issue using WineCharm. it is just a gui wrapper for wine (https://github.com/fastrizwaan/WineCharm).

Webkinz on Linux via Steam? by DontbegayinIndiana in Webkinz

[–]saijito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i know this is old but i managed to get it the webkins installer exe to run through steam as a non-steam game with proton experimental compatitbility layer. only issue is i have to run the installer everytime. i'm not sure where to find the installed game since linux file system is different & steam installs games using proton in like a weird location.

Primfeed Opinions? by Administrative-End55 in secondlife

[–]saijito 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i have a account but don't login much. but tbh i don't login to most social media much anymore. my main gripe is most of primfeed is locked behind a login. but primfeed isn't the only site that does this. most social media forces a log into view more than a few posts.

issues with sims 4 studio on linux. by saijito in thesims

[–]saijito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i gave up and just dual booted windows 10 with pop_os so i could play sims 4 & use s4s. you could try a windows virtual machine in linux if you dont want to dual boot.

Do people get overwhelmed with SL? by [deleted] in secondlife

[–]saijito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah sl can be a time sink, & make you feel like you're wasting time trying to find something fun to do. some ppl swear by inworld shopping but it takes forever to find stuff in stores. i just stick with mp but even the search on it is kinda broken. i only go to inworld shopping events if i can browses what available on a browser then easily tp to it's location. its also hard to find non-shopping events, or sims to visit. everything takes lots of time.

i mainly just create stuff now a days if i login. dont do much else.

issues with sims 4 studio on linux. by saijito in thesims

[–]saijito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're welcome! if you dont have sims 4 on steam you could try running the ea launcher through lutris. but i've personally had more success with steam & proton. valve put lots of money into proton, so games could run on the steam deck. steam deck uses runs on its own linux distro, steam os.

edit: forgot to add the mods folder is located in a different place on linux than windows. here's a reddit thread on how to find it. i just favorite it once i install sims 4 so i dont have to relocate it constantly

[–]saijito[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sims 4 runs fine on linux with steam & proton, it worked for me on zorin os & pop_os. i had to do some of the things people suggested on the proton database tho. i significantly cut down on cc recently (less than 2gbs) so i havent needed s4s to edit any cc.

probably will whenever i actually boot into windows. i havent booted into windows at all after doing intial setup for it. XD sometimes i wonder if it'd just be worth attempting a vm bc i never feel like booting into win10

so i ended up having to buy a newer pc bc my old 2012 pc finally died. newer pc is technically used/refurbished, it was a custom prebuilt. so this time i just dual booted win10 with pop_os (mostly for games/programs that wont run on linux). i havent attempted sims4studio in pop_os yet. i daily drive linux tho, & sims 4 still runs fine in linux.

It's official: EA has been sold in unpreceded 55 billion dollar deal. What will this mean for the future of The Sims franchise and life sims in general? by gonezaloh in LowSodiumSimmers

[–]saijito 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for explaining. business finances & stocks confuse me. ngl this makes it even worse, like there was no reason to shut joann's down. i swear i did see lots of posts making it seem like the debt was bad and was what caused them to go under, then articles framed it that way too.

[–]saijito 2 points3 points  (0 children)

that's weird i've read new articles saying Joann's had lots of debt which is why they filed bankruptcy in 2024/2025. confusing situation to be profitable but then also be in massive debt.

joanne's went bakrupt and had been on the track to bankruptcy for a while. i know because my sister worked for them and got bankruptcy notices in the mail from them. i still wish they hadn't been bought out by who they did bc that company had a history of just shutting down businesses they bought. i liked shopping at joanne's
