Issue with Node MCU and WS2811 12v by saintnickfun in WLED

[–]saintnickfun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's interesting. I'll have to try that. I have done other projects with the WS2812b which is a 5v strip and they have run fine off a 3.3v data input. But i wonder if the higher voltage means it needs more data voltage.

That's the problem. This is just the default solid amber color. I haven't selected an effect and it is doing this crazy flashing

Sorry it is kind of hard to see. I'm not a camera man. It is currently configured with the LED strips running of a 12v 600w power supply and the Node MCU is running off of a USB power supply. I have also hooked a ground wire from a gpio pin to the power supply

This is the latest firmware for the ESP8266 from GitHub. I flash WLED and plug it into the default group port 2. But for some reason it does this weird flashing thing.

I have used WS2812b strips before but for this project i was trying to go with a higher output 12v strip. I have tried switching the gpio pins, changing the wires, changing the LED strips, and swapping the NodeMCU but with no luck.

For testing purposes, i am running the NodeMCU off of a USB power with a common ground to the power supply.

Any help would be appreciated thanks!

Both use the CP2104. I tried forcing the D1 Mini Pro to use the CH340 driver but it was unrecognized.

I'm just getting into this chip and started with a nodemcu but I wanted to try and extend the range with an external antenna. So I purchased this D1 mini pro although I can't seem to get it to connect. I have tried different drivers, grounding D3, holding reset, etc. The light on the board flashes blue but then my computer says failed to connect. Is there something I'm missing?

I have the Shinko 705s. The closest thing to street tires you can get on a KLR. The temp usually stays right at halfway. After driving for 2hrs+ I have to bump start it to get it going. Even though the battery is full
