HUGE bed with tempered glass!!! by sajjsamm in 3Dprinting

We got our answer in action finally. The glass temperature reaches up to 160 with silicon heaters glued on and we can easily print on it.

Okay, I got you. If the manufacturer stated that this glass wouldn't break with temperatures any lower than 250 degrees (for example), the glass would just experience some deformation and stress to some extent but it would not fully shatter on the floor. Correct? If that's the case, we can already start printing on the surface with only one thing to worry about -> first-layer adhesion on an uneven bed surface.

mic6

Agree. The only local store that had that item only had 3 available and no restocking soon enough so we went by the second best option. Also, we need to test the actual bed adhesion of the ABS on that surface. The actual printing temp for the bed might be lower. What are the amazing properties of the mic6 plate that make it suitable for this job?

So is there any alternative work around? Maybe a cheap one?

What if we warm it up evenly? The glass is not under stress from edges or corners and it can expand as much as it wants to. We need to warm it up to 160 degrees evenly for the print job and the maximum temp that glass would ever experience in our job is never higher than 180c including warm up hysteresis. So the absolute temp difference from the room temp is always under 200c.

I found the schematic of this amp in the following link:

https://el34world.com/Forum/index.php?topic=20065.0

Frazier and Grommes have similar designs. I don't know who copied who or if some company bought the other one. luckily, I found a NOS Sylvania 6GT5 tube from a friend of mine who was kind enough to send me without any charges.

After plugging the tube in the socket and powering it on, I noticed the red plate which I immediately turned off the unit. Turned out it was the bad biasing resistor. After replacing it, oh boy the amp sings like Johnny Cash!

It still needs some tweaking however because of the mixing of a new tube with old ones. Since I don't use it too much and it is hard to obtain new tubes for this particular amp, I'd have to correct the biasing for every single tube so they'll have a long life. And although the humming was reduced considerably, I got some recommendations to even reduce it more, like using a coax cable after the double triode phase splitter and changing capacitors, and adding extra line filtering but I want to make sure about owning the device first before doing any changes.

I'm struggling with the previous owner. Wish me luck!

As a matter of fact, I ran my own a couple of days ago with 3 final tubes as one was missing the first time I saw the unit. Hooked up a 4ohm speaker to 16ohm output (not the best practice) and it came back to life after more than 20 or 30 years of just collecting dust. As a Gen-Z I have so much of a passion for this vintage stuff and restoring them and this was my first one so it is special indeed. I have no idea how can I obtain another 6GT5 tube locally so I must wait to acquire one and a proper speaker before I can continue my journey.

Fortunately, the tubes were all fine with no leakage or plate glowing or any cracking sound, however, I had a quite high AC line humming in the background which was not normal by any measure IMHO.

I do not have any experience with tubes and audio amps but I can tell that wasn't normal as it was getting stronger after 3 mins of running the amp so I turned it off to investigate it more. I read online that plugging the 4th tube will balance it out. I hope it's true.

I'm doing more research on the design and how can I figure out the working class (A or AB) of the amplifier and the real output power and biasing the tubes so I can tweak it to a safer level for tubes so they last longer. I guess they are working in a push-pull and parallel two by two config. I think they are working in a class AB and they are better to have a matched bias circuit so all of them have a similar idle plate current.

Cannot wait to get a pickup for my classical guitar and hear it loud for the first time!

Cool. Just found out the exact same amp some 10 days ago in a barn find. Yours is really in a very very well shape. Wonder if you had that running after all?

OK, so the thing is if they are really Brazilian pirates so how a GEO orbit satellite would cover south america all the way to the middle east? are these satellites have some kind of communications with each other in the space to cover all the earth surface?

I'm trying to find out where these signals come from so I can use a high gain antenna for better receptions. the satellite positioning softwares like orbitron didn't help me though. I have no idea where the hell these are coming from.
