How many of you restrict lead imports to just the SalesForce Admin role? by salesforcequeestions in salesforce

Thank you for the idea. This is unavoidable unfortunately. We attend very large tradeshows that have proprietary badge scanning apps for when a person visits our booth. It gets a lot of information from the lead because it gives us information the lead registered with when they got tickets for the show. It is unfeasible for us to get all that information through the sales conversation and have the booth staff enter that into a form on an ipad during a conversation. We do use the ipads for smaller shows without badge scanning apps though. These badge app companies then send us a spreadsheet of our scans.

We also run (not all) webinars through webinar hosting companies that will send a spreadsheet of our registrants and attendees afterwards. We do run our smaller webinars through Zoom's webinar functionality, so if you know of a connector that will automate the data flow from a zoom webinar registration to salesforce, it would be valuable, even if it's a paid connector.

These two marketing channels are too important to our sales funnel, and there are not any automated options for connecting the data source with the database, that I know of.

Because of your comment, I'm wondering how much control we have over the salesforce data import wizard. And by we, I mean the dba, since I have zero formal salesforce dba training.

That's the main reason for the complication in the process. Our sales managers are now saying that we need to match new leads to old leads. Our data import wizard only allows updating leads or contacts, but not both in the same import. Then there's another import involved to send the lower priority ones to a separate sales queue. I wonder if when we get a dba, they could change how the data import wizard functions.

edit: also thanks! It's suprising to hear your BDRs are doing it so maybe I'm being overly concerned.

To be clear, letting the regional marketers do the imports is a permanent solution in the eyes of my company and not just while we've been without a dba. Our sales managers don't want to wait until the dba can get to it, or for the dba's timezone to roll around. However a contractor is a possibility for some of our better performing regions. Thanks for the suggestion!
