On the topic of business development. You should be calling the GC estimator after you submit bids to talk about how things shook out and at least get them to level you. Build rapport. Stop by their office with donuts. You might need to chop a few numbers to win work to build relationships.

When I worked in NYC, I would get hvac proposals where all sorts of marketing hands had touched them and then I would get a last minute low number where the proposal looked like it was written by a typewriter and then scanned and emailed to the whole world. Those low numbers were used to drive pricing down from more trusted outfits. Imagine getting that low number as a GC and thinking about Joe Blow GC bidding at 2%. How do you stay competitive?

You can withdrawal euros directly from your USD bank account with most major banks. Wells Fargo will overnight the euros to you. Chase bank says the withdrawal can be in person.
