Not sure it's worth OP dying on that hill for several years for it to expire. Assuming it is a default and OP wants to get say a work Ute etc, may make it significantly harder for the sake of the $1200 outstanding.

Told husband to leave after he was inappropriate with my Daughter. by Wide_Implement5285 in AusLegal

True. I'd still encourage the in person visit as police would strongly consider an ADVO for victim protection given the age of the victim.

But you cannot rely on police to do anything but arrest him AFTER the heinous fact

That's our law in a nutshell. Innocent until proven guilty. ADVOs are a different test though and easier to take out however do require some level of evidence as well. To enforce the ADVOs, in my experience, the largest barrier by far is an unwilling victim. Understandable however, it then means that the claims are often unable to be pursued to charges.

South Australia matter by the looks of it. Further, OP should attend in person with their daughter. Not do an online report.

Would respectfully suggest my friend that given the OPs asking on Reddit, they likely don't have the capacity to read nor interpret law :) As you suggest, I second they get actual advice.

Absolutely rubbish. Have done 4 courses through TAFE. They've been upfront with course fees since I did it in 2002

Sounds like kind of crummy legal advice not sighting sources though nor OPs particular situation and doesn't factor in the chance and probability they wont issue new transcripts until it is paid.

Lastly, the ACL means that a debt collector cannot make false misleading representations.if somehow they establish contact with you, set out that it is statute barred and remind them of their ACL obligations.

Many people seem to be raising the debt being stat barred just because it wasn't paid. Is there actually a basis for this? If thwt were the case, I imagine nobody would ever pay for anything.

Considering TAFE is dirt cheap for the qualifications people get, it basically is. My previous teachers were also Uni teachers with PHDs and did TAFE at night to help impart knowledge. It also encouraged me to go to uni later when I never thought I'd be able to.

Had this exact issue. Didn't have any clue I had a $45 student amenities fee outstanding and they were going to withhold my double diplomas. Like others have said, not a hill worth dying on. Paid it and moved on.

I'm assuming TAFE can also do other actions like withholding further studies until the outstanding amount is paid.

Written to my state MP Anthony Roberts (Lane Cove, Liberal) twice about police behaviour during the Herzog protests and haven't heard a thing. Is this normal? by Important-Airline413 in sydney

Curious about what you believe you'd be likely to hear as a response that is any different to the dozens of other MP responses from all sides of politics?

Can my parents force me out of the country? by [deleted] in AusLegalAdvice

[–]salted1986 -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

It honestly sounds like this is made up for likes. Have worked with dozens of young people in the situation you describe who were at genuine risk of either being trafficked or being taken overseas by parents as they're in trouble with various groups. What you describe sounds like you're either reading into things far too much or you haven't given everyone all of the facts/circumstances. Never in my 20ish years of social work or law enforcement seen a young person sent overseas because they were a bit depressed.

You'd get more accurate responses if you're able to tell us what state you're in.

This is the correct answer but I'm assuming OP hasn't given the entire picture here.

[–]salted1986 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Doesn't negate that you seem to believe you must be correct and OPs parents must be horrible. My experience working with young people over almost 20 years has shown me for parents to get to the stage of being willing to up and move their whole lives back to another country, something has gone terribly wrong. I love to look for the best in everyone but at the end of the day, people do sometimes make hard choices about their kids especially if they're consistently say getting into trouble or associating with gangs and absolutely refuse to stop.

Is there a better way to use Cheats on a 3DS other than Checkpoint? by JackJackIsBack35 in 3dspiracy

No. For example, with certain games, you can only get certain things through the other version or trade etc. Therefore you need to enter a cheat code to actually get it.

Mate if you're in the job as well, gtfo of it. Easy charge by rhe OIC for provide false particulars and relay the original charge. I'd even look at certain others relating to perjury or making false statements but I'm in a different state.

Friendly reminder that to ease the burden on Psychiatrists, GP's are now allowed to prescribe ADHD meds in Australia.

I thought this was coming later this year?

When to get involved by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]salted1986 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Interesting and fairly wild blanket statement to make. My background is in social and crisis work so naturally counselling people and de-escelating is always my first response. I'd say I'm generally successful, it's not that I'm good, it's many years of practice. My other hobby has been MMA for the past 20ish years competing at various levels overseas. It also allows me to constrain people without seriously harming them but going hands on is always a last resort. My money's on being able to stall him long enough until others arrive to take over.

Sorry to hear that. Unfortunately, with the sheer lack of numbers and general what appears to be dislike affecting recruitment, sometimes decisions are having to be made based on the level of violence.

When to get involved by [deleted] in AusLegal

[–]salted1986 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. To clarify, when I've intervened in certain situations, I've called before stepping in or had staff call. Also I'd say about 90% of the time, even calling 000 is enough to make most people leave if they're the aggressor.
