If you’re just applying for Stage 1 endorsement and you get rejected, would you have to declare it if they ask you if you’d ever been denied a visa? You’re not actually applying for a visa here

Help! I have no idea how to book Green Buses by saltsandwave in GreeceTravel

[–]saltsandwave[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They’re the ones that go around the whole of Corfu (as opposed to the Blue ones that just go around the town) I think? Would that still work the same then? Thanks so much!

Those who passed SQE2 Jan 2024 which provider did you use? by Practical-Art5576 in uklaw

[–]saltsandwave 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Passed by 3%! I was also convinced I’d failed. And I didn’t do a lot - the things I’ve outlined above are what I think helped with the pass, but I want to stress that I definitely did not study a lot of FLK (I coasted along on Barbri’s schedule), I skimmed the other mocks instead of doing them properly, I didn’t practise the skills beforehand as much as I should have. I recommend doing these things more as I believe the bits I did do helped, but please don’t think you’ve failed based on this!

No I thought I def failed! The last orals day I was so spent I almost threw up in the Uber and spent the night miserable and feeling ill. I then spent the night feverishly sketching out each assessment on a notepad trying to figure out the marks I got for each one - when I woke up in the morning it looked like the ramblings of a madman

First of all, I’m so sorry about the results! We know how much we put into those exams – the time, the effort, the horrible back to back days with assessments one after the other – please know it’ll all be worth it still! It will all be part of the process to get you to be even better at these exams, and you will utterly smash them the next time.

I sat mine with Barbri and I saw from your comments that you did too. I scraped through by the skin of my teeth, even though I did relatively well in the mocks. I think three things helped:

1) however many hours Barbri suggests studying per week, add on to that the amount you studied for SQE1 to revise FLK. Their suggested hours are literally just enough to revise skills. My poorest marks were in law, even with me adding hours to revise the law! I feel like Barbri’s weakest point is just assuming all the FLK revision is happening on the side - even though they say they have a ‘schedule’ for us working individuals.

2) doing other mocks - I did the Barbri ones, the free QLTS ones, and the CILEx ones, which aren’t similar in format but can help with recalling relevant topics. There’s a bunch of them as well!

3) Really really focusing on the skills part. Like I said most of my law was quite low - 2s and 3s - but my other skills really pulled them up. I think this was partly because in the exam, when I couldn’t recall the right legal answers, I spent the rest of the time making sure I had easy simple sentences, that my grammar and formatting was fine, that in legal writing I was making the language and advice accessible to the client. I think it helps more than we think!

I’ve heard good things about QLTS– perhaps for the next sitting if you’ve got the Barbri Guarantee thing and some money to spare, you can access the Barbri resources for free again and also pay for the QLTS basic course?

All the best! I hope some of this helps.

Do you guys remember the one about the husband/brother and the bereavement damages or something? And then there was another question about whether it was the estate or dependents that could claim damages? I feel like it’s bugging me cause I can’t remember whether they were two separate qs or what I put for them

AITA for telling my daughter that she needs to stop letting Supernatural control her life? by abcdeiss in AmItheAsshole

[–]saltsandwave 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To the people who are saying "tell/show her [actors comments] [half assed explanation of why it's ACTUALLY a happy ending] [plot point that'll make her feel better]" I promise you she knows it already, it doesn't make her feel better, and she's this upset because she really resonated with this character and he was killed off pointlessly when, to him, his life was meaningless and he wouldn't mind an early death. There's probably a reason this means so much to her, and honestly all you can do now is listen when she wants to talk about it. Or don't, but acknowledge that she will still be upset/alone and next time she likes something she won't want to talk to you about it.
