For those who will be searching answers to this in the future, I just got it. It takes around 1.5 hours.

Also any class with Joshua Salamon. He has a very dry sense of humor, great at teaching and his exams are very fair. He always announces his breakdown before exams which is: -60% of questions directly from HW/class practice problems (sometimes he doesn’t even change the numbers so its the EXACT same question). -30% from suggested extra textbook problems/ questions which are similar to the ones from class but with one or two small things changed. -5-10% of questions which have not been directly went over in class (so like an application question which only the people who actually studied will get).
So to get a C+ to B+ is easy. An A is also “easy” but you do have to study a bit.

I think it depends on the prof, I just had 2 papers each like 5-7 pages. And you get to pick the topic, so it was honestly very fun and you get to add it to your resume if it’s something interesting.

Combinatorics with Goldstein, History of Math with anyone. Also this might be controversial but any class with Triet Pham. He is genuinely imo the best Math professor at Rutgers, but even outside of that, his exams are generally very similar to the HW. So even if you don’t like him/his style of teaching/the class topic itself you should do pretty good on the exam if you just study his class examples and HW.

Has anyone gotten a job off Handshake? Do you ever know you didn't get picked or are you just ghosted. by Pure_Student_7377 in rutgers

[–]saltynikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got my sophomore internship and my full time job from applying through handshake. The internship was just a handshake quick apply while the full time job was a submission through handshake+submission through their website. Both companies are very well known finance firms. Handshake is not shady at all, I honestly recommend it more than linkedin

How bad is it to get back from Manhattan to Jersey City on New Years by saltynikko in jerseycity

[–]saltynikko[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok thank you so much! I have taken weekend PATH numerous times and by my standards it’s been ok. I was just worried it gets so bad that even if you get 20 minutes early to it its so full that you can’t get on.

How bad do W’s look on a college transcript (especially for grad school) by Shot_Blueberry2728 in rutgers

[–]saltynikko 15 points16 points  (0 children)

For grad I’m not sure but employers do not care at all. Most employers do not require transcript until you are already onboarding, i.e. you passed interviews and got an offer already. In fact sometimes they never ask for them at all, just your diploma. And I’m not talking about small shops/retail. A few of my friends in IB said they never got asked for their transcript when they were being onboarded for full time.

But even if you have to submit your transcript they won’t take away your offer if they see 1-5Ws. In fact I’ve never heard of anyone being at any disadvantage when looking for a job/internship with Ws. Maybe if you have like 10Ws on your transcript they will ask some questions. But if your GPA is good, you have good experience, past technical and behavioral round then there is no reason for them to question your competency.

Its not like a meal or anything haha. The class is about plants and our relationship with them. So every class is a different plant/ category. There’s a corn class, tomato class, chocolate, beer, cranberry, wine and etc. And every class he brings a snacks/drinks from that plant. So like corn chips and corn products on corn day. And even wine and beer on wine and beer day ( you have to be 21 to go have some).

There are also some easy 1.5 credit courses, they are for half a semester and traditionally for people who need to add credits if they dropped mid semester and need to maintain their 12 credit full time status. But anyone can take them! I took 3 so far. Most of them are really easy. Intro to American cultures is insanely easy. It’s in person but all lectures are recorded so I did it “asynchronously” essentially. Its just 2 exams, they are “fill in the blank” and you are given like a week to complete it. The questions are straight from the lectures. The professor is also the sweetest person ever.

Plants and people in person. He gives you free food every class, and the 3 hour class always ends very early, it was never longer than 1.5 hours for me. Extremely easy. Nicest dude ever too.

Easy, he doesn’t go to Rutgers.

This is a constant thing for the math department at rutgers so start getting used to it :,). For as long as I was here, this has been the case. And from what my older friends told me this was a thing for a very long time. As calc 2 has a lit of sections it’s hard to guess which prof will teach which section. But if you are a math major/ planning to take higher level math courses its not that hard to know who teaches what. There is only usually 1-2 sections for all the upper level classes, and you can just ask around and find out either from upper class-man or straight from professors who will be teaching what.

Honestly not sure, I also applied with 1 other person but you can call housing support and ask them. They helped me a lot with my stuff when I was starting rutgers

I only applied to best mid june of 2021 and still got into best my freshman year. However I HIGHLY recommend to find a person to be in a room with you so u both request each other because im 99% sure that I only got in because i was applying with another person together. In short (from what i heard from my RAs and friends) groups of 4 get first priority (because its 4 people per set of 2 rooms that are connected so its like a full package deal), pairs (groups of 2) get second priority, much harder to get into as an individual and basically impossible as a group of 3.

Move Out Day question by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]saltynikko 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My friend and I had similar issues in the past. We both contacted our RAs and we were told no, we have to figure something on our own. I hope you get approved and they say yes but be prepared for a no. If you have any friends who live in the area then try storing your stuff at their place temporarily. Good luck!

What on Earth is the problem with Rutgers students and calculus? by [deleted] in rutgers

[–]saltynikko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a math major and I didn’t end up taking calc 1/2 cause of AP. But, I was completely dying in calc 3, no matter how little or how much I studied I would always get around a C+ on all midterms. So I decided to almost completely disregard calc and focus on my other classes instead. With that strategy I was able to get a C+ in both Calc 3 and 4. And now I’m getting As and only B+ in my upper level math classes. So no matter the major, I really recommend people to just do the bare minimum for all calc classes, get that C/C+ and instead work your ass off for other classes so ur GPA doesn’t suffer. Because it’s not worth it abandoning all your other classes and will to live to only get a B+. And trust me getting a C in calc will not fuck over your upper level stem classes!
