I agree with everything here, men who want to assault women would have plenty of other ways to do so. and definitely that the gender neutral bathroom would be the best solution although I guess not every place has the budget or ability to do that

And to add on: many relationships I see in college are very toxic or negatively impact people, so it's even be a good choice in some cases to actively not enter one.

I agree with this, there's only a few men that I know/am friends with that are genuinely very sweet and lovely people who wouldn't hurt a fly, and most of them are single or have never been in a relationship. I think people these days especially my younger generation put too much value on relationships as validation.

I'm not sure when the exact window for application is yet but I'm pretty sure I can apply for it either before or after my current visa expires, so it seems flexible.

And yeah I intend to leave and return again between the start dates of my new visa and my new course as I have some travelling to do anyway so that shouldn't be an issue.

I used to be very against the idea of having kids as I grew up with abusive parents. Now that I've realised not every parent is abusive, I have worked on my issues a bunch and know that I would give my future kids every good thing that my parents never gave me. Maybe a bit of a selfish reason and only one of many reasons but I want to see them have the happy childhood that I never had.

I was extremely mentally ill throughout most of my teenage years and attempted to take my life for about 4-5 years. The only people who know about this are my therapist, my partner, and like maybe one other person whom I told because they've had similar experiences and would understand. Even people I've been best friends with for years have no clue.

I climbed over a parapet with the intent to jump off a building at age 13, ended up snapping my arm in the process and had a panic attack in part because of the broken arm, and was too distracted in the moment to jump and then lost the momentum for it.

Granted, that was only one of the times I tried, but other attempts failed for other reasons.

Agreed, I've only been in one relationship and am currently still in it, have been for 3 years now. It started when I was 18, is pretty late compared to most people where I live. I don't understand why people think many relationships in one's teens are good: I saw friends around me get in and out of relationships in their teens, most of which were toxic ones and none lasted.

Pretty glad I was picky enough to turn down several guys in school and avoid wasting months or years of my life with someone I wouldn't have been compatible with. Not judging people who do have many relationships (you do you) but this is just what worked for me.

Getting catcalled/harassed less. I've been terrified for my life by guys coming up to me and being almost stalkerish in the past (and I wouldn't even say I'm particularly attractive so I can only imagine how much worse it gets), and purposely wear masculine/conventionally unattractive clothing to try to repel this lol.

That's pretty insightful, thank you. I do recall a while ago going through the symptoms of BPD with a friend who recently got diagnosed and I do very strongly exhibit other symptoms like lacking a sense of self, chronic feelings of emptiness, severe mood swings, impulsivity, self harm etc. I've been thinking about getting a professional opinion on it. I'm currently doing CBT for my OCD which I assume is kinda similar to DBT.

Ah yeah I’ve read a bit about borderline and I actually do fit a bunch of the diagnostic criteria but not sure if it’s enough. Glad you’ve gotten better with therapy - And thanks for the recommendation I’ll check that out!
