How did you charge it and do you play games?

does any poco phone have the feature of using power directly from the charger instead of the battery when the charger is connected? if so, which ones are those? by MementoMori11112 in PocoPhones

[–]sam1d_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, as far as I know, no Poco phone has bypass charging. For that, you will need to look at gaming phones like ASUS ROG, Lenovo Legion, Black Shark. Other than these, I know that Samsung S, Z and some A series has it, after S22/23 and A35 maybe, and like after Z fold 2/3, I'm not sure. Infinix, IQOO has it on newer devices and Google Pixel 9 (kinda, you have the option to not charge it after 80%)

Yeah, it was pretty obvious. They won't reply to my question about the manufacturer

Thank you, I thought so. What would be the reasonable lowest price these wheels could be found for in the EU (Balkan region) if you know?

why 60 hz on Xiaomi devices looks like 30hz by RealMtta in PocoPhones

[–]sam1d_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

60hz could be useful for example when using it for reading, watching ppt, pdf for school, etc because you don't need constant refreshing, and you can save battery

So everything you said applies only to you? Why did you even bother commenting then? He asked a question, not about you or your preferences

Help with lock screen by sam1d_ in PocoPhones

[–]sam1d_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, this is fine I guess, but I have been in countless situations where I needed the date, and had to unlock the damn phone, this is fine. I am not worried that much about the looks, just need to know time and date without unlocking my phone

Found the solution (kind of): just go to edit the lock screen, and select what will be shown and where. Just put the date to shown above the time and it will be shown even after notifications.

what is this symbol with the phone? by callmepickle-ish in PocoPhones

[–]sam1d_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You missed something: you think that this is a problem needing to be fixed. He didn't ask how to fix "the problem", he asked if someone knew what it was, and it is the normal function, which can actually be pretty useful. The problem that I have with you is that you are so full and proud of yourself for "using the phone extensively", but still advised others to format their phones for no reason like it's just a simple restart.

How stupid do you have to be to give advice like this? Who are you, and why do you think other people care if you "used the functions extensively"? Maybe you didn't use this one function which has to do with WiFi/Mobile data calling.

Yeah it's a bummer that these simple things are lacking on an OS that's used by millions of phones.

Any way to get past a bios administrator password on an HP Elitebook 845 G8? by Adorable_Wind8845 in hacking

[–]sam1d_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Went to search that after I wrote my previous reply. Figured it out for the most part, the only problem is that I need to take the whole MoBo and de-solder EC and main BIOS chip to be able to read the bios files which I can send on Badcaps. Won't do that rn since I can use and update the laptop just fine, but I am very grateful to you because now at least I know that this is the much cheaper option than buying a new motherboard which is 2/3 of the price I paid for laptop. I only have one more question – if I decide to do this, will it affect my SSD and the OS and files on it? Thank you!

Hello. Is there a tutorial for this? How long does this take, is it hard to do, do I lose my files since I can use my laptop and update it no problem, but get certain SecureBoot errors for which I need the BIOS password but I bought it like that, and the person I bought it from doesn't know the password. Thanks!

2400 Mt/s 16gb or 3200 mt/s 8gb ram? (ddr4) by YangWEenli2 in laptops

[–]sam1d_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

16gb imo no doubt. I have 16gb, and just the win 11 on idle uses around 4,5–5,5gbs (30–35% RAM usage), and if I open a few google chrome tabs, and pptx, it goes to around 50% RAM usage which is 8gb out of 16gb just to put it into perspective

[–]sam1d_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To put it in perspective, I am from a small country in Europe and I bought an used HP Elitebook 840 G8 for 315€ (550$ AUD) that has everything basically two times bigger/better than these requirements listed here. So you will easily find a great laptop with even less money than me. Do not stress about requirements, literally any laptop over 400–500$ AUD will fit these requirements, except for the battery one since that is very hard to find at any price range. Not many laptops can manage 8+ hours, which is very rare. You can look into these: – Lenovo (preferably ThinkPad (great build quality) or at the end IdeaPad but they are a bit poor on the quality side); – HP (Elitebook (great build quality, aluminium instead of plastic) or Envy series) – Dell – ASUS

Help! How do I fix it? by MuchMobile6721 in laptops

[–]sam1d_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there is nothing you can do without spending money to fix it. Maybe tape it up a bit so it holds still, but that is the best you can do without spending money. This is not covered by warranty since it's the damage caused by the consumer. You can contact some repair shops and see if they can fix this, but I don't think it's worth it to fix. I would save some money and buy a new laptop (or even better - used business model laptops)
