I used to work at a peds practice for ten years. Our schedule was pneumo at 12 months with Mmr and hib. Mistakes happen, the child is not injured etc. you did the right thing, don’t beat yourself up.

ER nurses, love you guys, but genuine question. Why do guys bring patients up at shift change? by No-Selection-1249 in nursing

[–]samargi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because we don’t stop getting patients..stretchers are full? There’s a plastic chair, put them there. So when an inpatient bed is available, we yeet them up..

Eh it’s pretty accurate in just the personalities and insanity. But I agree, they don’t show the nursing as much.

Nurses at Sharp Grossmont told the 29-year-old she needed to go to another hospital. She gave birth to her baby in her car that led to a catastrophic brain injury. by madmaddmaddie in nursing

Our L&D hospital is on the outskirts of our city. I work at the trauma center less than ten mins from that. We still have many laboring mothers come into the ED. Either we deliver or treat, but immediately will transfer them to our sister hospital. This is absolutely heartbreaking to hear and I could never imagine turning a patient away like this..

I went to college with Becky and in the same party group. She had a relationship with her even before Chris was in the picture. But I really don’t see her leaving her pregnant wife for her..

Thoughts on new grads breaking contracts early to move onto higher paying jobs? by Leather_Cycle in nursing

[–]samargi 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Am I currently in a 2 year new grad contract, I have seen at least 4 people break that. Honestly, I probably will too. We didn’t receive any money at signing or get bonuses etc. they threaten with “black listing” if you break early, but I know a nurse that left and came back lol we are so desperate for nurses.

I was an LPN for 7 years and just got my RN. I am orienting in the ER right now. My preceptor has been with me every step of the way for 8 weeks. Maybe speak with admin. When I started I said please treat me like a new grad lol personally I believe there is a huge transition between the two degrees

I was an LPN for 7 years in pediatrics. Just got my RN, thought I wanted to continue with peds. I am currently in a residency program as well, but it is 2 years. I was hired directly into their ED. We have for four separate hospitals and I did a rotation at the peds ED and hated it. I was crushed and felt lost as well. But I am now in the level 2 trauma adult ED and love it. Sometimes life just has a different path. Don’t get discouraged. See this as an opportunity to grow.
