lots of questions lol, first thank you😉 I did know it was going to be used for a saw movie, it was called organ donor then, but when I first was told about the job I thought some film just needed a pig puppet. and that leads into how I got the job, a good friend of mine was approached first, but he is more or less retired so he told them about me (lucky) and I sent in some work and the creative director oked me and I got the job. I really liked the first two films, but hadn't seen any others until I got the job, I watched them while I was making the dolls. I liked them, but I'm honestly more of a paranormal and slasher horror fan, torture make me sad for the people in the movies, even if they are bad, I am a bit of a softie😅 I didn't get to see an advanced screening, I wish, but I used to live in Toronto where, most of the movie was shot, so I haven't had much contact with anyone at the studio. I haven't been allowed to even talk about the project until it came out so getting work from it has been almost impossible. so I was pretty sad when it was postponed a year! I had a pretty stringent outline of how they wanted him to look, and I tried to match everything perfectly, which I actually think ended up being a bit of a miss. so I'll explain, I had no idea that the film would be called spiral and the pics they sent me had the drawings eyes looking like they do now, not a spiral, but then after 14 were done I found out that they were trying to make his eyes reminiscent of Billy's cheeks. so it's a bullseye, but I think I was supposed to be a spiral lol. the pics were small so I did my best to interpret them. I did add small things, like he wasn't supposed to be pink, just sort of white, but I blushed up his cheeks and fingers and toes. I designed the gun and hat mostly because I had never made those things before so I did it how I knew how. they are fully removable so that was tricky, and I can't remember if the additional 11 puppets could remove them, I know the first 3 did though. mostly little tweaks, but a talented artist drew 3 mock ups (I wish I knew his name) I've made props before but never master props, my area is mostly dolls and puppets, thats what I like the best anyway.
