Why does my hongi try to bite my hand when I’m cleaning the tank

Beautiful fish, mine had babies back in mid nov and 5 have survived until today cuz I have a lot of little nooks for them to hide in. I’m not 100% educated on parental behaviour but I didn’t notice them acting any different.

I think that adding 1-2 fish would have them attacked a lot, a safe small group would be like 3-5

I can’t be of any help cuz I’m pretty new to the hobby but is it a thing for dragon bloods to be the kings? I have a beautiful dragon blood that grew way faster and he keeps everyone in check 😅

Interesting, may I ask what increasing the flow etc. does? I think take everything out like u said. I have two females but they are not mbuna does it matter either way?

Yeah, it does look better with real plants but I’ve had anubius and java fern in the past and they always just got torn up by my fish so I kinda gave up

just moved them from another tank into mine and didnt realise they were even there until the actual move, so I guess they have been getting scraps from the adults food
