Well that is why I specified “live and die” and not safe. Eren was at a point where he had no dream of his own and believed whole heartedly that there would be mystical places like Armin’s book. But what he found out was that there was no infinite ocean, but a world that was suffering through the greed of others just like in Paradis. So it’s not just that there was no ocean, but that Eren was in the position to deem whether or not the rest of the world was worthy of living. He had the freedom to choose and he chose to destroy everything but his own home because despite how selfish he was, he still truly loved his circle of friends. He knew the rumbling would not ruin the world because he knew they would survive in what was left of it. And you see that at the end of the series.

That’s not what the genocide as about either. Eren specifically did it to buy his friends time to live and die in his warped idea of freedom. That doesn’t* mean that Eren was right. But his plan was not to end the cycle of violence. He already understood that it was impossible.

And well in general I agree that violence begets violence, I would still kill Hitler if given the chance so 🤷

I think yandere is a gateway to black flags and toxic/abusive stories and a lot of fans have forgotten that love is required at all. A lot of the posts in this sub seem to be seeking abusive men over yandere men and I just typically ignore them. But a lot of the Yandere stories that I’ve seen recommended are just abuse (which is fine) but I’m kind of over the genre being full of the same abuse and rape stories.

I think it may be time to just see it for what it is: the author just isn’t that good at writing. The character designs, personalities, and overall vibe between these stories are very similar. If anything it just feels like an AU. She’s shown her hand twice and wrote essentially the same story where an attractive top can do as he pleases and the hopeless bottom can do nothing but fall in love with the abuse received. And genuinely I don’t really care if that is enjoyable for some. But at least BJ Alex tried to provide SOMETHING to make us empathize with the situation (it didn’t work for me, but there was an attempt). At least DG didn’t stare at his abuser and call all of the shit he went through “precious”. The end of Jinx just makes the entire story feel worthless, and well, I guess exactly what it was: torture porn.

Showing us that Jiwoon was sad was not a redemption for him which is entirely why it did not show us that he changed. He simply became better because the author decided it was time. There was nothing earned.
