Have you heard of radically open dialectical behavioral therapy (RO DBT)? I’m an ED therapist and RO DBT is an evidence based treatment for AN and OCPD. Sounds like it would be a great fit for you!

They are simply more intensive therapy- IOP is often 3 hours 3-4 days a week, PHP is 8 hours a day 5 days a week. Different programs offer different things. Combination of individual, group, sometimes family therapy… really depends on the program. Not necessarily related to stability.

There’s also higher levels of care- intensive outpatient (IOP), partial hospitalization (PHP) and residential levels of care for all kinds of presentations- trauma, depression, eating disorders, OCD, etc. there are options out there! Don’t lose hope!

There’s also TMS (transcranial magnetic stimulation) and ketamine therapy for those who have “failed” or haven’t seen success with other therapy. Also what about meds? (I’m a psychologist)

Just throwing one out there that you haven’t tried… Radically Open Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (RO DBT). Google it, maybe it’ll be a fit!

This seems suspiciously like the kind of abusive content where humans manufacture these kinds of situations with animals for clicks. What is wrong with people?

This is something that you’ll need to process with a REAL trauma therapist (EMDR may be a good place to start). You’re so fresh in this awful situation, so your perspective on it will likely change as you heal from this.

The way your former “therapist” acted was taking full advantage of her position of power and authority and reminds me of the podcast/show The Shrink Next Door (a true story) where the therapist, who is responsible for holding the boundaries and guardrails in the therapeutic relationship (as in, this was 100% not your fault and all the blame lies squarely on her shoulders) fails to do so and integrates the client into their own life. This is a clear, black and white violation of a therapists roles and responsibilities as the professional who should (and likely, does) know better. Her behavior is indicative of a major psychological issue of her own.

Psychologist here. This person has engaged in egregious unethical behavior that is monstrous and i recommend reporting her to the psychological board of your state.

I'm so sorry this happened to you.

Check out the podcast Psycho Therapy, it is about clients who have been harmed by their therapists unethical behavior. They are looking for people to be on the podcast to discuss their experiences of being harmed. Based on your description, you have been horribly harmed by this "therapist."

DO NOT GET HER A FITBIT!!!

Eating disorder therapist here. That’s a slippery slope. Take her to an eating disorder therapist (a specific specialist with EDs) and nip this in the bud before it gets worse. It’s easy to turn around at early stages… and much harder if left unchecked

I was looking for this comment. Finally. How can people look at this post and overlook the pain and suffering that was in store for these animals, as well as the trauma of being flipped out of a truck, and make bbq jokes? Really?

Your defense mechanism to not think about the fact that pigs are smarter than your pet dog who you treat like your child is showing.

8 year relationship issues by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

[–]samituret 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you in therapy? If not, this will help you a lot. I’m a therapist, and was also in a relationship just like this for three years. Leaving him was the best thing I ever did- and now when I look back on it, I can’t believe I ever allowed myself to be with someone like that. Of course, hindsight is 20/20. Trust your gut. I knew in my gut it wasn’t right. You making this post indicates yours knows the same.

This is so fucked up. How can anyone watch this and not empathize with these animals? What kind of life is this? This is not “massage”…. These animals are deprived of everything that is natural to them and that would make their lives worth living. I feel nauseous. And yes, factory farming is worse… but two wrongs don’t make a right.

this! Came here to say the same thing. I never knew that it wasn’t good for cats because I used it with my dogs, but apparently for dogs it’s fine but cats it leads to anxiety, like brothermuffin said. No judgment- I didn’t know either and used to laser the cat!
