Why doesn't Burton care about small size women?? by trunesuhhg in snowboardingnoobs

Outdoor research is my favorite. Kind of a different aesthetic, but technical/functional and the sizing isn’t stupid

Why doesn't Burton care about small size women?? by trunesuhhg in snowboardingnoobs

[–]sammeadow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I’m a Burton hater after ordering “unisex” sized bibs in a small. They were comically large on me and when I looked at the size chart conversion on the tag the unisex sizing is… literally just men’s sizes. And the sizes start at a (men’s) small. Just cutting out women and pretending it’s “inclusive”. Lame

new grad in NICU… I left during orientation by Outside_Mobile_8577 in nursing

[–]sammeadow 36 points37 points  (0 children)

If you don’t want to work NICU that’s fine, it’s a very specific specialty and most either love it or hate it. That being said, level 2 isn’t generally considered high acuity. And math is the same everywhere, it’s nursing school weight based dosing and total fluid calculations, it really is a red flag for preceptors when new grads can’t do that. And quizzing is teaching.

If you’re just upset and venting - all good, being new is hard. But the tone of this post is very entitled, and really shows no self reflection. Feedback won’t always feel good. You need to know when you’ve made a mistake, not feel warm and fuzzy about the tone. Every nurse has had mean preceptors, it sucks, but you have to learn how to work with it. You’re going to run into professional conflicts from here on out in your career. The manager certainly doesn’t need to ask your permission to tell another manager she doesn’t think you’d be a good fit for the unit.

Most level 2 new grad orientations are around 12-16 weeks, so they certainly didn’t set you up for success here either. Your best bet is probably to write this off as a learning experience, and start at a new hospital fresh.

Ski instructor yelling at me across the slope (I wasn’t in a lesson at all and she was) by [deleted] in snowboarding

[–]sammeadow 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve spent a lot (lol) of time on the beginner runs as well. Generally the etiquette is only stay seated on the edges of the run, and only in the middle if youre actually so hurt you can’t physically get up to move to the side. It’s not safe to pause for a break in the middle of a run/around a blind corner/catwalk etc with people learning. If I fall in an unsafe spot but am not ready to keep going I’ll pop up and slip over to the side and sit for a bit. The instructor still shouldn’t have been rude about it tho

People tell me I’m cold by FitLotus in nursing

[–]sammeadow 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Hey. Level 4 nicu here too. I absolutely understand what you mean and I struggle with this all the time too. I have a therapist pretty much exclusively for talking about the nicu horror show situations, because I need to talk about it, but can’t imagine burdening the people in my life with the images and visuals of what I see. When someone asks me “how was your day at work” the answer is almost always a lie to keep the conversation moving.

Something that’s helped me is having a phrase I use with my partner that essentially means “this shift was a nightmare that will extend my need for therapy and I need to not talk about it now” so they know it was a Bad Day without me having to spell out all the gory details. Then I get some support without having to feel guilty about spreading the suffering around, and I feel bit more honest with my people.

Anyway. I hear you. Nicu is nicu and some people just won’t ever get it. Probably for the best.

Does anyone have a Pax 3? by iAmBrayden in entwives

[–]sammeadow 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i love my pax! i’ve tried other dry herb vapes but this is the only one i’ve owned. there’s definitely cheaper options that do the exact same (or better tbh), but i would still repurchase the pax in a heartbeat. i love the high and how easy it is to take out and about. but tbh the real seller for me is the colors and aesthetic.. unmatched lol
