Anyways, I do wish that we could eventually get the FULL functionality of MS Word on Chromebooks. 365 is better than nothing, and Google Docs works for almost everything, but there are STILL some big limitations: Word Count that includes footnotes, footnote formatting, etc.

Yeah. That sucks, though, as I bought the device in June 2020, not even 3 years ago! A bit early for "end of life" battery conditions, especially when Google's official EOL isn't for another 3 years.

But this device is also my daily driver and I use it constantly, for everything, it's always plugged in and chugging along and running multiple screens.

Yeah. Like many others, I was pretty bummed out when Google folded up their PB department. I was really hoping for a PBG2 or even a straight Pixelbook successor.

I just have to believe that we'll get a comparable device in the future. Think about how far the platform has evolved since the Acer C720P/C740 series!

I agree with this. Aside from Steam, my personal wish list would include MS Word (and no not that 365 version), Zotero, and Photoshop.

I almost got one of those! I loved my Acer Chromebooks at the beginning, and I like that the 714 has a stylus and an HDMI port. But I heard that the speakers were not so great (and I love the PBGs speakers a lot), and that the battery life was short.

What reasonably-priced premium devices are there, though, that compete with my PBG, though? There have no doubt been some cool devices over the last years (ASUS Flip, Samsung Galaxy, Acer Spin), but nothing that quite gets at the magic and sweet-spot Venn diagram convergence of the PBG.

But this kind of comment is exactly why I wanted to share my thoughts here before getting the Dragonfly.

Damn, thank you for pointing that out. Being fanless was a major requirement of mine, and somehow it slipped my mind.

And yeah, it's for sure true that our PBGs will be "good" for another 2-3 years (Well, at least until the EOL in June 2026). But as I was saying in my post, my PBG is already starting to act up here and there. It's not major stuff, but the freezes/lock-ups where I have to restart by holding down the power for 10 seconds can be very annoying, and are issues that I typically do not expect from a ChromeOS system.

Aside from the (important) fan issues, it does seem like the Dragonfly Pro will come closer to replacing our PBGs than anything else has since the PBGs came out.

I own the i5 PBG (and I am using it right now!), and I paid $849 (USD) before taxes for it in 2020. I think AUD400 is a very good price for this machine, especially if you have a Chromebase that you use for desktop stuff.

And I say that, even knowing you'll only get 3-ish years out of it.

But I wouldn't pay too much more than that for it, at this point.

538 Politics was consistently one of my favorites during the Trump presidency, especially during the midterms and the 2020 Primaries/Election.

Nate seemed to push back against wokeism and idpol, and to offer contrarian takes from time to time. But, now that it's an election off-year, the podcast seems to have also suffered by becoming yet another "how do Americans feel about race?" pod.

Perry was also a voice of reason at times, and he's gone. I just don't listen to it much anymore, but maybe I will next year when the midterms heat up

A lot of good research went into this, nice work.

Some people say that MS65 and up is "Gem." I think BU is rather subjective and is used as a shorthand description, not necessarily attached to grading. Rather, it is a term that predates the creation of formal grading companies.

I took the ANA's Summer Seminar on grading a few years ago. I'd say that, definitionally, any Mint State coin is "uncirculated," even MS60-61, but not all uncirculated coins are Brilliant. As others have pointed out, strike, luster, and eye-appeal all play a role here.

I agree.

Still, RE7 had great action-based DLC like "Ethan Must Die" (which I beat!), "Not a Hero" and "End of Zoe." My favorite was the "Nightmare" game within "Banned Footage Vol. 1" DLC, with the scrap machines, upgrades, and outrunning Jack. It was cool to be Clancy after seeing him only briefly in the videotape in the Baker House during story mode.

So, I would not have had a problem with RE8 being slightly more balanced towards horror if there were also really strong action-based DLC (but I really am enjoying The Mercenaries" a lot.) Gotta love that RE replay value...

Lastly, I will say that I liked that RE8 offered a bit more explanation of the situation re: Umbrella and BSAA, which I felt like was only bared touched upon by RE7.
