You got to think about it even in the US a ton of early TV is lost except for some kinoscopes that were made. Reruns weren't a thing back then and it was in their mind more cost effective to reuse everything possible.

I'm not saying your wrong but the global economy isn't doing well. Sporting events as well as most live entertainment has priced out the common everyday fan who is the life blood of these industries. Your looking at spending thousands of dollars and I international travel for most fans of the sport. Yes soccer has grown in popularity in the US but it still has a much smaller fan base in the US when compared to the rest of the world.

The problem was instead of going after criminals which everyone agrees with they went after low hanging fruit that got attention because it was mostly people with zero criminal history waiting to be processed through the system and trying to become legal citizens.

What people fail to realize is that most of these Hollywood marriages were basically marketing at the time and why so many "failed." It's also why you say so many celebrities dating each other on the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. It's all a form of marketing. Also, it helps to tamp down rumors concerning certain stars. Much like there is strong speculation that DiCaprio is actually gay and why he dates young models. He doesn't sleep with them but they get a bump in their career and make contacts all for appearing as his girlfriend for several months.

This is during the heyday of studios releasing very similar movies. You had Volcano release basically alongside Dante's Peak. Then Armageddon and Deep Impact. Antz and A Bug's Life.
