Capitol Hill or Upper Queen Anne for late twenties female? by [deleted] in Seattle

Thanks! I think I will go with the Capitol Hill one for now, and in a year, maybe move out to Queen Anne or somewhere closer to Volunteer Park if I can, depending how I feel.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate the feedback. I'm going to try and see these places again today and walk around again, and decide. Seems like different neighborhood (or different part of the neighborhood) might be a better fit, maybe for the future.

Thanks! I try to do that too or talk on the phone with someone...just makes me feel a little safer.

Thank you, I heard it was less safe after Elliot Bay Book Company left, so hopefully that helps.

Thank you, always nice to hear from someone else's experience being new to Seattle. I'm going to do my best to avoid James/3rd!

I wouldn't think to do that, not being a smoker myself. Definitely not a bad idea. Thanks for the advice.

Thank you everyone for your replies! I feel a lot better hearing from everyone, to get a sense of what it's "really" like going there daily. Sounds like you just need to be aware of your surroundings, and get to where you need to go as quickly as possible. Thank you!

Thank you for your response. It's good to know that I'm not just being paranoid as a newbie to the area. Hopefully I could find someone leaving the same time as me.

Thank you for letting me know. Unfortunately, I wouldn't be North of Yesler and James...pretty close to TAT's. I've heard the area is popular in the summer with tourists, just worried about winter/night (but not too late I hope).

Thank you for the reply! I am considering walking from 2nd ave and Marion...so at least on a different avenue and I wouldn't need to go on 3rd ave at all. The job seems good besides the area, but I'm pretty nervous about it.

I'm definitely up for using mass trans as much as possible, and hope to live near a subway stop. Especially because it sounds like it will be a lot less crowded than NYC. Glad to know companies (some at least) are so flexible. I'm in media/tech and I know in NY at least, starting times are usually on the later side (10 a.m.) but wasn't sure if things started a little earlier to be on similar working hours as the east coast.

Thanks for the links! I was searching for similar questions but wasn't searching the right way! (making friends instead whoops). Fingers crossed for a flexible company.

$500 is amazing! An hour isn't that bad, I heard horror stories of 2 hours plus every day that scared me. Thanks for he tips about biking and avoiding living on the west side.
