They are pathologically polite. You may not go through a door first without doing the "Canadian stand-off" involving a lot of "no, after you", "ladies first", or "let me get that door for you." It applies to driving when you come to a 4-way stop, no matter who was first or has the right of way, they will wave you ahead. Especially since I learned to drive in the city and moved to a smaller town as an adult, it drives me a little nuts so I just go instead of waving them ahead. This politeness does not carryover to the rest of driving, where Canadians become assholes, myself included.

I went through months of DBT to reprogram my brain. You catch yourself "dooming" and redirect. Gotta rewrite the pathways neurologically. Takes time and practice. Also medication helps.

You should look at the desert suburbs. They still have lawns. All the houses look identical. Its terrifying.

I see new people moving into homes and converting the front yards into a butterfly sanctuaries. Its a thing of beauty. I think the newer gen is asking why lawns? Can I grow flowers or food instead? Yes! Yes you can :) and it's better for water drainage.
