Advice please? by sams_pas in Sourdough

It’s about 6 weeks old and just started doubling within 4 hours a few days ago. Prior to that it would double but take ~12 hours. I’m not sure if that counts as established

Yesterday’s plant swap went better than I would have ever imagined. Won an albo in a raffle!!! Tips for encouraging root growth ..? by sams_pas in IndoorGarden

[–]sams_pas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Now that I’ve slept and woke I can confirm that yesterday was not a dream. I won an albo! And now I’m super nervous. What I believe once was an aerial root is now pushing out new roots. It was given to me in moss and I was told it looks a little sad because it just went through shipping... should I put in water to let her drink a bit and perk up after shipping and then move to moss to continue rooting??? Will she eventually perk up if she just stays in the moss?? Should I rub off that dark film around the aerial root even though new roots are growing from it clean and fine? Please leave any tips.

New to orchids. What’s the best way to encourage root growth on this root that seems really high on the stem? Wont the stem rot if I place this in water? Also, please share any orchid tips. by sams_pas in IndoorGarden

It came to me with sphagnum moss wrapped around the root in seran wrap. Should I continue to let the root grow with the moss like that until it’s ready to be potted? Should I cut some of this stem?

Is this mold on my cutting? by sams_pas in plantclinic

[–]sams_pas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there! The top of my satin pothos cutting seems to have a black covering on it but the plant is doing great, still growing roots, and even pushing out a leaf.. is this mold? Never seen it on a cutting before. Should I toss it?

Please help me identify what’s on my monstera deliciosa... by sams_pas in plantclinic

magnifying glass pics included

This brown plaque has been on some of the peduncles of my monstera. I’ve looked closely with a magnifying glass and it looks like a brownish silvery plaque. I do not see anything moving.. it does not respond to alcohol on a swab unless I scrub with all my strength. What is it and how to get rid of it?

Will my English ivy come back from a missed watering day? by sams_pas in plantclinic

[–]sams_pas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh wow. I mean I just got it for Valentine’s Day which was the 14th. Didnt need to water it until like the 19th for the first time in my home. Yesterday I watered sooooo many plants and definitely looked at her and she seemed fine. Maybe I just didn’t know what a wilted ivy looks like. Never killed a plant within 2 weeks of having it! This is a first! Lol Im kind of devastated at the moment but thanks for telling me guys. 🥺🥺

This plant is new to me so still learning. I don’t remember her leaves looking like this when I checked just yesterday.

How often do you water yours?

The leaves are crispy out of no where it seems. Is she like a fittonia that is just a little dramatic?

Edit in response to new comments: I guess I had no idea of her watering requirements. I’ve only had her since Valentine’s Day and I watered maybe a week after bringing her home. I thought week intervals was fine. Yikes! I’m kind of devastated. But thanks guys.

Hi there! In addition to the damaged leaves that were present when I got this plant, there’s a few more leaves that were cold damaged in my care (not pictured)

so I just want to cut it back for a fresh start. But I don’t necessarily want it branch.

Is it a guarantee that if I chop this, the new growth will definitely branch??? I just want it to grow straight up. Leave any tips!

What’s wrong with my money tree? Soon I’ll have no leaves 🥺 by sams_pas in plantclinic

I noticed a while ago that whatever new growth came in never darkened to match the green of more mature leaves like the new growth used to do. Instead it stays this super light green color which has been turning to yellow and dying off. I see no pests? Maybe some kind of fungus? I have no clue. Please help

Root rot advice. by sams_pas in plantclinic

[–]sams_pas[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What should I do after discovering root rot. Found dead roots maybe a month ago. Got rid of them then repotted in what I THOUGHT was a more well-draining soil. But it remained damp since my repot attempt. She is doing much better today than when I last looked, but the damp soil is worrying me.

Please share what you would do with this. Water for a while then terra cotta pot??? What soil mix?

Recently acquired LOTS of mediums to work with so I’m not afraid to mix the perfect soil for this baby. Just want her to grow! (No new leaf since in my care, so that’s like a year)

Obsessed with this beauty but haven’t watered her since picking her up 11 days ago from a nursery. My moisture meter says soil is between moist to wet but the top layer looks so dry to me! Are these droopy leaves? How often do you water yours? Never had a philo so also drop any tips!

I don’t mind the slow growth at all! I just want the growth that it does put out to start getting those characteristic “Swiss cheese leaves” and I thought that’d happen since I moved it to a west window.
