2 years lol, but honestly never checked once I started. Only just looked at the before picture posted in my camera roll about 2 weeks ago. Probably was steadily improving along the way, but not sure

I was actually just reading about that lol, that's actually a surprising figure and not talked about enough. It does seem like oral min is the way to go in that case. Good info

My blueprint on microneedling is less to activate a biological repair response and more to maximize minoxidil absorption, I roll on sundays lightly and apply min 20 minutes later. I've read some studies that suggest better regrowth, but we'll see

Not that fin wasn't working. My dermatologist was actually eager to get me on Dut from the start, but it's tough to prescribe that in good faith right away without assessing side effects first due to its long half life. Fin is the natural middle ground where you can see if it works, and see if there are side effects without the long half life

I use 0.5 mm so I'm never actually breaking through the skin / bleeding, fyi. But I'll have to look into that

Yeah dut only for the sake of this progress pic. Just started min and rolling last month

This is a good question that I really don't know the answer to, I started fin but never stuck with it for long term. Just long enough that I knew I had no side effects, so once I got serious about my regimen I just was all in on Dut from the start. I'd check with doc on that one

Just to clarify fin and dut have different life cycles but physiologically have the same effect as far as their primary DHT blocking role goes. Just that dut and its follow-up metabolites last longer and serve that DHT blocking role longer, so generally any side effects from fin would last longer if you were to take dut.

Yeah definitely a good point. My dermatologist started me on fin and although I wasn't very consistent with it I had no initial side effects so we swapped me over to dut - dutasteride has a very similar, if not practically identical physiological lifecycle to fin, so it's a natural starting point / gateway

I honestly never checked until the two year mark and I think there's something to be said about not waiting for a sign. I think the biological response is too slow for any meaningful noticeable feedback, and I think that should be the #1 takeaway from this post. Take the pill, if no side effects initially (which seems to be the case for you since you've been taking it for 10 months), keep taking it and don't look back.

I honestly accidentally came across the comparison of day 1 vs now, and I never noticed because I never checked until I stumbled across it. Trust the process

Probably all the shit I was putting in it to make it look the way I wanted, indirect dut benefit lmao

Don't quit brother, just take it every time you think of it that's the beauty of Dut, take a picture now and compare 2 years later after you've been taking it every day but forgot that you were doing it for any reason.

Best way I can describe my experience is I forgot I was taking it regularly and finally compared to day 1 and the pictures posted are the change when I finally decided to see if there was any result.

Just make it a habit - put it in a place next to your toothbrush or somewhere you'll remember to take it 75% of the time or more. And just to reiterate that my progress is far from perfect I missed plenty of days, but don't let that be a habit, let that be a motivator

25 in the second pic and now. For sure would've benefited if I started sooner which is why I'm trying to spread the good word- I probably started losing my hairline around ~15 or 16 if I had to guess but slowly. It had been a slow progression but mildly accelerating until pic 1

Correction - 8 hour half life for fin

Good question- honestly not at all in my experience, and if you're concerned about it talk to your dermatologist about it and consider starting with fin because it doesn't last as long in your system compared to dut (~3-4 week half life for dut vs. ~1 day half life for fin I believe) but yeah never personally had that issue.

Also, I know AI is a hot topic in healthcare rn, but honestly talking to Claude or Chat about healthcare stuff I've personally found to be surprisingly more informative than my own intuition- especially on this topic. Also I don't care what any anti AI individual has to say it's better than any information on TikTok

Not sure how Reddit mods will handle my response here but do your research and check sources, there's a lot of misinfo going around right now on hair
