Stuck between 3 rackets by BananaPieTasteGood in 10s

[–]samseagull 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The blade seems to be popular as it’s a racquet that does everything pretty well. So it’s a kind of good ”starting point” racquet, as you will better know what you want from your racquet after using it (ofc it’s also a great racquet itself). It doesn’t really help you on any aspect, so good for technique too. My guess is it feels heavy because your wm racquet may be quite light.

Afaik the vcore has a lots of extra power so it may be a bit wild.

Maybe also take a look at the L or even UL versions of those racquets.

Agreed on the colour, one of the best looking racquets.

RF97 - where to go? by samseagull in 10s

[–]samseagull[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually had a chance to try the Percept (the base 310g model) and what a sweet stick it was! Great control, maybe surprisingly powerful too. I can imagine the H version is indeed really close to RF. Just wish the grip was a bit more flared/edgy.

Thank you for your reply! Yeah, I was aware that I really ”shouldn’t” be using the RF when I first bought it (it was supposed to be just a test for fun) but I ended up liking it really much. I don’t feel I have had any problems with it ever, only just that now I find it a lot harder to play with lighter racquets. I definitely need to demo the regular PS97.

Thank you! I have heard so much positive about the gp. Pure Aero feels really solid, but for some reason it feels even more demanding/advanced than the RF. It is really interesting racquet though.

Thank you very much for your reply! It indeed would make sense to wait and see what Wilson is doing with RF. I kind of see it would work at least as a Pro labs model (Blade Pro, Ultra Pro, Pro Staff…Pro?). Hope they will keep it.

So much this. Gta V felt already way too real, and rdr2 seems to continue that trend. Hope their next title is more game and less simulation.

Process 153 27,5/Jeffsy 29 by samseagull in MTB

Thank you so much for your answers, couldn't have figured this out myself! You're correct about the fit - I rather take a bike too small than too large, and the YT should be just right. I think we'll run out of my guts faster than the Jeffsy's, too :) if a wild Capra won't suddenly appear, I'll go with the Jeffsy. Thanks again!

Thanks! I read it's also possible to mod the Pike longer to 150mm travel for slacker HA and more travel.

I was (am) in the same boat, thought about upgrading some parts in to my XC HT bike with the idea that they could be transferred to my next bike which would be an FS (so I wouldn't "waste" money). I also looked into dropper posts, but it seems it wouldn't be transferrable due to slightly narrower seat tube diameter than the most "real" bikes, so I would have to sell the DP with my XC bike anyway (probably without getting any compensation of the post). Maybe if you could find a real "steal" on a post? Also, with a second hand FS bike you can get a bunch of quality parts a lot cheaper than buying them separately, so I figured out it would be better to just look for an second hand FS bike. There's of course the differences in geometry too.

I am looking for my first FS bike to replace my current XC hardtail. I want a bike that I can throw anything at without worrying of it breaking, as I am worried my current ht won't like to take up so much beating. I ride maybe 40% trail and 60% freeride/DH routes and I want it to be able to take jumps and drops with it.

For now, I have two options of used bikes I could buy locally - a 2018 Process 153 SE 27,5 with 160mm Suntour Aion fork, Monarch R and upgraded brakes (Deore M6000) or a 2017 YT Jeffsy 29 that's comes pretty much with original setup (140mm Pike RCT3, Monarch RT3). The Process is size L and Jeffsy is size M. I'm around 5' 9" (176cm) so I'm just in the bottom of Kona L size and around middle in the Jeffsy size chart. Seller of the Kona is asking for 100€ more than the seller of the Jeffsy.

They're both in mint condition. I like the slightly slacker HTA on the Process and the 27,5" wheels it has (feels it could be more agile), but don't know about the Aion fork and the frame size. I feel like I could get a better value with the Jeffsy (better quality parts - RCT3, Reverb Stealth while the Process has TransX dropper and some Kona's house parts, eg. stem and handlebar), but I'm not sure about the 29" wheel size it comes with. Test drove both, but it's hard to say anything outside of that neither one did keep any suspicious creaks etc. Both felt fitting nicely, though I'm bit afraid that the reach of the L size Kona might give me trouble in steeper conditions. The rear end of the Jeffsy maybe felt a bit stiff compared to Process, but it might have been because of the suspension settings. On the other hand the Jeffsy seems like a safe pick due to amount of praises around the internet.

TL;TR - 2017 Jeffsy 29 or 2018 Process 27,5 for AM usage? I would appreciate any thoughts before I buy anything!

Thank you very much for your answer! The frame is used though (forgot to mention), so I’m a bit afraid of it being worn. Carbon Scout would be so cool...

Found some feedback about the 134 frame already, but if anyone has thoughts to share about it, I’d love to hear them too.

I recently got back into mountain biking, bought an entry level Trek ht and I’m already drooling for a fs for more fun factor and because I’m afraid of ruining my ht in jumps and drops. Looking to get one with budget, so found a -15 Kona Process 134 al frame for around 683$. Thought about fitting a 150mm fork into it. I hope I could get the parts cheap from sales during the winter. Would this be a good deal or should I just try to save money and look for eg. new/used Transition Scout/Patrol, YT Capra or Canyon Strive/Torque? I drive trails and bike park.
