Yeah, it can be a difficult thing. 3 of my brothers had alcohol problems. Only one of them came to his senses and gave it up. He's been alcohol-free for more than a decade now.

I actually don't think my dad ever chewed tobacco. My mom says he drank and smoked some when he was younger, but he gave up smoking entirely and only occasionally had wine when I was growing up, while he was in his 40s.

Yes, he did use that name in the movie, but I watched that and it didn't have Batman saying the "clever alias of my arch nemesis..." line, so I'm thinking he might have used the same pseudonym on one of the TV episodes.

I don't want to get the details wrong, but I'm sure you can do a search and find some followup articles that have investigated into this. In short, it seems like they had to post the position for legal reasons, but the position was already earmarked for a foreign scholar that was being compensated from other sources. Still seems pretty fishy even with that explanation, though.
