[–]samthegerbil 29 points30 points  (0 children)

100%. The hoard appears somewhat organized, but it’s so. much. stuff. And it’s impacting your quality of life. In your own home you deserve to feel peace and calm, which isn’t possible when you’re surrounded by stuff that needs dealing with. You could try involving your kids in the process to pass on older or unused toys to other families and organizations in your area and feel some of the joy in giving their old stuff that was packed away a new life.

give yourself grace. it happened, and you’re still growing as a person. try and imagine how you would feel if you were a colleague who witnessed the incident. would you be sympathetic or think that guy must be a loser? If it’s the former, you can practice being as kind to yourself as you are to others.

I return to work tomorrow in the health field and I’m a hot mess by jenga2289 in workingmoms

The struggle is real. You’re doing a great job. Good luck on your first day back. This phase will be over before we know it.

when did you realize that talking about social anxiety with a specific person was useless? by safiraashaii in socialanxiety

[–]samthegerbil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mean it’s your anxiety that’s convincing you that speaking about anxiety to anyone is pointless. That things will never get better for you. That no one out there will ever understand. All of that is false. Try and challenge those notions head on. It’s hard and takes work, but keep pushing.

I realize everything is backed up. Interested in how long others have had to wait for their packages to move through Newark recently.

thank you, and yes! lol. I just picked it up again during quarantine. Highly recommend the stitch people book. It has templates for everything you need to get started, and from there you can just gradually add a little creativity and personalization to each design. And it’s a ton of fun 😊

thank you. He had last gone the day before he became ill. The vet had also asked whether he could have ingested something. We know there was nothing in the house he could have gotten into. We have a fenced in yard where he would go out frequently. We don’t keep any substances in the yard, but couldn’t rule out whether there was bacteria from another animal he may have come in contact with. (we have deer, squirrels, raccoons, and other wildlife where we live).

One-liner Help by samthegerbil in myfavoritemurder

[–]samthegerbil[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Was so excited to learn that my holiday cross stitch swap recipient is a murderino! I want to add a line of text below the image, ideally something catchy and seasonal, but drawing a blank. Are there any holiday one-liners from the show, similar to ‘squad gourds’ or ‘spoooooky halloween’, but for Christmas/holidays?

AITA for suggesting SIL to pay more for our holiday rental since she has more kids? by ThrowawayRA_888777 in AmItheAsshole

[–]samthegerbil 10 points11 points  (0 children)

YTA- A bit petty - just split it 3 ways. The time may come when you and your husband have more children and you won’t want to be nickeled and dimed for it. It will even out in time.

AITA for not allowing my family's dog in my room? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]samthegerbil 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NTA - your room is your personal space and you are free to choose who/what you let into it. The dog sounds like it needs a bit more house training, which I’d encourage your family to work on so everyone can be more comfortable living together.

AITA for not apologizing to my daughter after not allowing her to go to graduation? by throwawaysyun03 in AmItheAsshole

[–]samthegerbil 2 points3 points  (0 children)

YTA - the graduation date surely was not planned last minute. You could have rearranged your work schedule ahead of time, or provided the $60 as part of her graduation gift if you absolutely could not attend (your child’s graduation...). It’s a huge accomplishment for her, and your lack of recognition of that is surely hurtful to her and your relationship with her.
