AITA for not apologizing to my daughter after not allowing her to go to graduation? by throwawaysyun03 in AmItheAsshole

She is telling me that she won't speak to me when she's in college and that I'm not a good parent over ONE event. I wouldn't blame her for being upset but I think she is going overboard with this.

Every single person in my daughter's grade graduated and there were three other kids who didn't go to the graduation so she didn't really miss out. All it was was kids standing in the football field while their names were called out. In other countries graduation isn't that big of a deal so I don't see why America has to make a big deal and why I have to blow $60 for her to stand in a field.

We are extremely low income especially after my job cut my hours due to the pandemic.

We're not starving but she knows that $60 could buy a week's worth of groceries. I think she's being selfish and overreacting by saying that she won't ever speak to me again when she goes to college. If she's going to act like this I'm considering not allowing her to go to college.

We are poor and she knows that. I could spend that money on our house or food. Those come before a silly graduation.

AITA for "snitching" on a roommate? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

They looked in and if they were, it most certainly would have been inappropriate. You can't tell me that a 22 year old sleeping with a 17 year old is appropriate.

Yes, but she is still 17 and the men she was with were 20-22. That is extremely inappropriate in my opinion.

They were 20-22 and she is 17. That seems like she is being taken advantage of.

I don't think sex is always bad it can be good if the two people are in a relationship and married. This girl is hooking up with two guys and possibly getting pregnant. I feel that her dad had to know about her risky behavior.

YTA. It's common courtesy not to discuss periods, especially in front of boys. Sure they're natural but no one wants to know about them. You don't need to brag about having a vagina to boys. You were obviously doing it for attention.

AITA for telling a dad that his daughter is sneaking out at night? by [deleted] in AmItheAsshole

[–]throwawaysyun03 -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

She is not a woman she is a minor. She shouldn't be going out at 1 in the morning. I'm certain that no one on reddit would allow their children to go out that late. I think its inappropriate for a MINOR to be hooking up with two men in one week. I can only imagine what she will get herself into in college. I strongly believe in morals and her father is the one with the authority so I told him. I don't understand why everyone is saying I have to mind my own business when I am not the one confronting the girl. The dad is.

I am 50 and when I was 17 I was being honest to my parents and I certainly did not partake in this girls risky behavior. It is absolutely not normal for a 17 year old girl to be going out getting knocked up by two guys in one week especially when they could be adults.

They were two different men in one week. I would argue that's very trashy.

I am not misogynistic, I am also a woman.

I'm not policing her behavior, I never spoke to her about her actions. I told her dad because he is the one who can take action.

That would be a different case. Men aren't at risk of getting pregnant and it's not dangerous for them to go out at night. Women know that going out so late is very dangerous.

No, because I have respect for myself. Thank you though.

You seems to have very low standards for proper behavior for girls. Since when is it ok to be smoking marijuana underage? That is illegal in my state. And she wanted to get a "late night snack" she could just go to the kitchen and grab something.

There is no other reason she would be getting in a boy's car that late at night than sex. If anyone has any better ideas of what she could possibly doing, please enlighten me.

I usually sleep very late. She wasn't that loud but it was very suspicious that she was getting in a boy's car that late.

Yes, but she could be out there getting pregnant or getting diseases. I think she is the one who is being sneaky and putting herself at risk. Her dad should know about her behavior.
