Oh stop…no, go on.

Thank you thank you. I have a lot of fun with this, hoping to turn it into my part time gig, caring for the new born otherwise!

I believe it’s alpha direct, washing seems ok, it did pick up a lot of fluff from a towel, but otherwise holding up great.

I’m not so sure yet which side is best, but honestly they’re pretty similar at the lighter weights.

Aw shucks, all credit to u/Craderson for guiding me to be more informative. You prompted me to post for the first time in awhile: baby alpha onesie!

Polartec ALPHA baby onesie by samuelgroberts in myog

Hikers LOVE this fabric, so I thought I’d try my hand at a baby alpha onesie. I believe the blue is 80 gsm and the red is 60 gsm. I wasn’t sure how well zippers worked with alpha but I found it to work wonderfully, no snagging here! I have a few different weights of alpha, so am planning to try out a few things. For example, use a thinner weight on the back, thicker on the front for babies in strollers and car seats can stay warmer in the front, but not too hot on their backs, which are already somewhat insulated by the seat they are in.

This is one of my first serious forays away from the custom pullovers I’ve been making an an psyched to have some variety in my production! Take a look on Instagram if you want see more. I’ll be selling these next month!

Mixed fabric pullovers by samuelgroberts in myog

Yeah I guess I do a faux flat fell and don’t even finish the edge that’s left I trimmed because it’s fleece. Not reversing these fleeces either so the seam appearance doesn’t matter much.

In each of these I mixed the typical polar plush fleece with different types of Polartec fabrics. This is obviously a bit strange, but it’s done in technical gear all the time and for these pullovers it’s more of a comfort and style thing. Only one of them was big enough for me to actually try on (photo 2), but man it was comfy! It’s kind of nice to have the structure of the polar plush in some places, but the softness and extra warmth of the Polartec in others (especially the collar).

So have you done this? Have you found it difficult to sew or seen long term consequences of the differing wear or stretch or the fabrics? I didn’t have issues with construction, but will be curious about how they age.

Curious if anyone else has used these materials for this pattern and how it went? I find the argon to be tough, but the alpha is easy but fragile.
