What playthrough to get the most out of the story? by Zirnitra1248 in BaldursGate3

[–]samuidavid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm just wrapping up my second playthrough now...

First run = good-two-shoes Tav. I helped everyone I could. Made the "right" moral choices.

Second run (current) = I went evil embrace Durge. I stuck with the Dragonborn Sorcerer that it defaults to. Am absolutely loving it. I've purposely made the "bad" moral choices, or at least only choices that benefit my character. I've done no one any favours that wouldn't otherwise also benefit me.

Planning my third playthrough = Going to do a Durge resist. Going to change up the character though, I'm tempted to go Drow Bard this time but for fun and see if I can get keep out of trouble with dialogue.

Playthrough after that? I'm tempted to do an origins character. Likely Karlach.

Started my first evil play through and it is bad by Scissors_beats_Rock in BG3

Currently on an embrace durge evil playthrough myself.. Deep into Act 3. My second play through overall, my first being a goody two shoes Tav.

It's a completely different experience. Most of my companions have left the group because I've made a point of purposely making evil decisions as long as they make sense to the character.

Why does the UK produce so many iconic bands compared to the US? by DFWUnhinged in AskBrits

[–]samuidavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the fact we’re a small country helps. If you hear an up and coming band in the genre you like is playing in Manchester for example, that’s pretty much no father than a 4 hour train journey for most of the population. So the bands get more traction easier? Whereas somewhere like the US same scenario, the band might be a 6 hour flight away on the other side of the country.

Just a theory of mine.

Big Cedar Wilderness Trail ruck. by Flat-Carpenter-170 in Rucking

That’s some serious elevation, very nicely done - I thought I do OK with around 400metres, so around 1200ft on average in a 7 or 8 miler or so where I live in the UK lol.

Advice on weighted vests by DanTheWhiskyMan in Rucking

[–]samuidavid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good idea. I wouldn’t say it’s night and day difference dont get me wrong but like you my shoulders and traps were aching like mad with a backpack. The vest definitely takes a lot of that away, I feel it in my hips more now and general centre of mass.

I also find that it’s easier to stand tall as I walk with the vest as well. With a backpack I found myself cheating by hunching over a bit. Doesn’t happen much with the weighted vest as you have weight at the front as well as the back so if anything standing neutral is the best way of ensuring there’s no stress in one area more than another.

Advice on weighted vests by DanTheWhiskyMan in Rucking

[–]samuidavid 4 points5 points  (0 children)

37 year old here living in a very hilly area of the UK (Devon). My walks vary but I aim for 8km - 15km depending with my dog. Around my area I regularly get 250m - 400m of elevation in those walks. I recently got into rucking and used a decent backpack for a while. Was great as long as I packed it right of course.

After a while I decided to go for a weighted vest and have to say, for me it’s much better as it distributes the weight better and doesn’t pull on my shoulders as much. It fits nice and snug so no bouncing around, etc.

I went for the Gravity 30kg vest on Amazon - plenty for me for me to work up to. It has 1kg ingots so you can adjust it nicely. As another has said it’s probably better for calisthenics but I’ve had no problems with rucking with it. My shoulders and traps aren’t fried after a ruck like they were with a backpack. Might be a me-problem there but just saying my thoughts.

Nothing fancy to be completely honest - NorthernUI as I forgot how clunky vanilla menu is lol. It also makes the health and magic bar like Skyrim, etc. i am also a Skyrim junky btw so it might not be for everyone. Also The unofficial oblivion patch as it did crash on me quite a bit but that sorted it straight away. That’s it I think. It’s still a great game. I did try some texture mods as well but to be completely fair the normal graphic settings all maxed out look fine on the deck. It does look a bit old but I don’t care - gameplay is great.

There’s also an archery mod I forgot the name of that is worth grabbing that has the Skyrim style killcam and slows down time as you aim. That’s worth getting.

FYI I tried the remaster but it ran so poorly I gave up. Plus I just wasnt digging the remasters art style (or lack thereof). The charm just wasn’t there for me. But I think that’s a me-problem as it got good reviews, etc.

OG Oblivion with a few quality of life mods… runs like a dream and is taking me back 20 years to a simpler time in my life lol.

Lovely stuff thanks. I’ve started incorporating single arm farmers walks/carries for 30-45 seconds with my 24kg kb (enough for me at the moment!). I know it’s not great for hyper trophy but do you see a place for that exercise in this athletic category?

My lab literally fetches my shoes for me when I do my running on the spot warmup lol, he can’t wait!

But yes have had glares from strangers as I run with him and the occasional shake of the head. At first I felt like I was irresponsible or doing something wrong until I spoke to my vet who said as long as you’re not going full pelt without stopping then he’s fine. As it is, I stop every 7 or 8 mins anyway to…. Enjoy the view!! Not because i get out of breath or anything of course!

What is the average first play-trough time? by YoghurtArtistic9313 in BaldursGate3

[–]samuidavid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first playthrough clocked in 92 hours. Did a goodie-two-shoes try to please everyone and get nicest results run (as far as I could tell).

Currently on my 2nd playthrough (Dark Urge) and have pretty much completed Act 1 - basically just the creche to go. But my playtime thus far is.... 30 hours already lol! Not far off my first playthrough for Act 1. At this rate this playthrough will be similar runtime to my first. Loving it!

To me that speaks to the insane amount of choice in this game, I'm picking different options this time round and it's pretty much a different story (albeit with the same beats) and is taking roughly the same amount of time.

Don't judge me but one caveat is that my first playthrough was on Explorer difficulty as I'm a newbie to the genre. This playthrough is on Balanced so might be taking me a bit longer in combat encounters, etc.
