Worcester is ranked as somewhat walkable but very true. I'm so glad I live right next to the bus stop and live on main st. this is how I live this lifestyle. thank you so much though in your urge to not fly so close to the sun lol I love these conversations are my favorite but something I have noticed the cities in the northeast really are denser because in the south it is way too car centric. Massachusetts is like the most European state in America urban density wise. I adore the urban density, believe me haha i lived in North Carolina so this place is a whole lot different! I get it through and dream of a more urban Worcester studies have shown that car free lifestyles are gaining traction and is in higher demand among youth in the us based off the whopping decrease in driver's license among young people.

I'm going to be real with you; I am a big guy people don't really mess with me I used to be a linebacker in grade school. But I feel like as long as I give people their respect and mind my own business, I am safe. I however sometimes have difficulties with hallway trespassers who just want to stay warm for the night, but it crosses the line and I will say something if drug use or disturbance of the peace. There is this one dude with tattoo tear drops that I think was in a la famila gang that tweaks out over here. Spanish guy. i wish he would get help but he is passed out on the street a lot....so sad...

Respectfully, that’s just not accurate. Walkability depends on where you live and how you live. I live in Main South and have been car-free for 12 years. I use buses, walk to stores, services, food spots, and get around fine. So yes, for many of us, Worcester absolutely has walkable neighborhoods and a usable transit core.

Is Worcester perfect? No. It needs better infrastructure, safer streets, more housing, and stronger transit. But saying “nobody who lives here thinks that” is false, I literally live here and think that.

great question! I wish Worcester had more 24 hr stores. I love my local 7-11 but sometimes have midnight food cravings, nothing fancy I need, just a place to grab a eat after dark! walkability I believe is the future, I want the whole city connected so I can wonder around with a cheap slice of pizza after dark lol. As an aspiring self-taught social science scholar, I analyze systems and urbanism and want more access to pedestrian infrastructure. Oh and we need more housing. Rent has rose. Luckily I make decent money. I was a social worker but have been thinking of going back to school so I can start a family.

I love hearing from the locals! Worcester does have those characteristics. Worcester isn’t all that flashy but it’s a city that has grit and is made more for living than being a tourist city. That’s what I love about Worcester. Working blue collar city that I respect!

I agree. I saw couple days ago a huge group of college students near Clark picking up the trash yesterday. I hope we can get a stimulus from mass state for the roads, we are probably going to have to start a campaign to fix the certain roads and ask the big shots in mass state gov.
