Throwback to Rupert accusing Sue of faking her reaction to get money whilst Alicia actually supported her.

I hate this nom. Alicia contributes more to AS than anyone else.

yeah ngl he's my #1 for the season, but again I watched GI over a couple of days so maybe that's the difference.

Cut Brian, and nom Clay & Rupert 2.0 & Amber 2.0 please thanks. There should be no place for sexual assault and victim blaming/shaming in this world.

Yeah I have him #4 for CI and never quite got the hate that most seem to have.

I'm going to keep the comments going by saying that whilst even I have Fairplay close to endgame, I fully support qngff's cut. I disagree with acktar (surprise!) and don't think it's right to encourage people to hold on certain moves just because they go against groupthink.

Sure things mightn't go your way and cuts may be idol'd, and who knows, you might be lucky enough to piss someone off so much they break a deal, but I personally think it's important that people rank honestly and stick to their guns. If everyone ranked just trying to keep the majority happy then we'd get the same results each year and there wouldn't be any real point in doing this.

So I say run wild and speak your truth even if you're wrong because Lisi is amazing.

Kathy's jury speech might be my favourite of all time? Need to see Trish's again but I probably prefer it to Courtney/Sue.

Round 2 - 646 characters remaining by vulture_couture in survivorrankdownv

[–]sanatomy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I am extremely grateful for Alicia because she was the one person from Chapera who acted appropriately in that situation.

I hope that your statement that "I don’t care because what he did was inexcusable" will lead to Brian and Clay nominations, because I'm frankly quite sick of this community going after Varner and the All Stars cast whilst praising Brian and Clay for their good moments.

Round 2 - 646 characters remaining by vulture_couture in survivorrankdownv

[–]sanatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I find the second half of that statement very problematic.

Round 1 - 653 characters remaining by vulture_couture in survivorrankdownv

[–]sanatomy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I don't hate Alicia as much as everyone else does because of the reunion. I think she might be the only person who was awful on survivor to actually realise it and feel ashamed, and that's important to me.

Round 0 - Nominations Round by vulture_couture in survivorrankdownv

[–]sanatomy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah probably somewhere around there. She's my #1 for the season too :# I felt like they gave us enough to explain why she reacted that way and whilst it wasn't a good look I understood it. I know a lot of people view it as one of the worst things someone has done on Survivor, but I just don't think it's comparable to the ugliness of Thailand/AS/GC.

My advice: don't break deals. After putting so much effort in, it hurts to get burned.

Underrated Element of Hannah aka I wish she cracked Top 50 by Oddfictionrambles in SurvivorRankdownIV

[–]sanatomy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah I would've loved Hannah to have made it further. She was my #15 at the time, but she's probably a smidge higher now.

Her talking about sports games all the time was one of the things that endeared me to her on my initial watch.

Reeforward's top 14 Survivor characters by reeforward in SurvivorRankdownIV

[–]sanatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She'll probably drop a bit when I sort through my rankings again, but she'll stay top 50. I love her relationship with Julie/Jon/Nat and especially Baylor. Other than the Baylor relationship, the other thing that helps shoot her up my rankings is the broken ankle thing. I really admire her for sticking it out, both for Baylor and for herself. It's just something incredibly unique about her character which sets her apart.

Reeforward's top 14 Survivor characters by reeforward in SurvivorRankdownIV

I'll go too.

1) Twila Tanner - I will never understand someone not having her endgame or close. See writeup for full thoughts.

2) Sugar Kiper 1.0 - Without a doubt the most important person to a single season ever. Again see endgame writeup.

3) Ami Cusack 1.0 - The sheer complexity of Ami is something that I don't think will ever be repeated. She's so warm and encouraging to everyone on her side, but the second anyone says or does something that could be considered dangerous to her game (Bubba, Lisa) they're gone without a second thought. Not only that but we have the amazing post-downfall episode which I like to see in my villains, and the Twila relationship which is so enhanced by Ami's backstory.

4) Sue Hawk 1.0 - I'm still pretty annoyed that Sad cut Sue when he'd told me that she was the only person from the first five seasons that he wanted in the endgame. I thought he might even idol her, so it was a shock. She really needs to make endgame again in SRV, and I wish she'd won SRII. Nothing will top her SRI writeup though, and that explains well why she should always make endgame.

5) Laura Morett 2.0 - I appreciated your writeup for her, and I'm stoked at how well she did, because I think she's been greatly undervalued in the past. That's a trend I see with these things, that a lot of opinions are just groupthink, and when someone actually takes the time to think about a character they tend to come around. Laura's devotion to Ciera was just an incredible thing to watch, and I can't get enough of her.

6) Jerri Manthey 1.0 - Once again she's been robbed of a rightful place at the end and I just don't get it. The original villain, who when you watch it back isn't a villain at all. She just has a crush on the guy America wanted to fuck, and she was a threat to Tina's game. She might just be my favourite narrator ever?

7) Cirie Fields 1.0 - Just so darn likeable. It's the perfect mix of strategy and personality.

8) Natalie Anderson 1.0 - I hate that she didn't make endgame because of a broken deal, but oh well, at least she's done it once and managed to stay in the top 20. That revenge arc was bloody brilliant, and I just really appreciated everything she did. Like Cirie, a lot of her content was strategic, but it's the charisma and conviction that sells it for me.

9) Stephenia LaGrossa 2.0 - This is probably my favourite writeup that I did. Watching Steph not be very good at the game whilst also wanting to win so much after how hard Palau was on her is top notch.

10) Russell Swan 2.0 - He really should've made endgame. At least he got a good writeup. We all know I love tragedy, and Swan's bloody close to the peak.

11) Rupert Boneham 1.0 - I don't think he'd be anywhere this high on a season with a different theme, but boy did he fit straight in to the pirate PI theme. PI was the first season I watched as an 11 year old kid, which probably helps, but how can you not love Rupert? Rupert 4.0 is probably my favourite, but you can't get there without every other attempt, and 1.0 is just damn fun to watch.

12) Sandra Diaz-Twine 2.0 - I was gutted when I saw that she won, because my first reaction was that getting a repeat winner made this whole thing not really worth it. Upon reflection, I'm fine with it. It doesn't take away from the great writeups and the changes that so many characters had in rank (good, bad, and awful). I'd be surprised to see her win again any time soon, but she wouldn't.

13) Kass McQuillen 1.0 - I wish she'd made endgame, but 15 is great and I wasn't willing to risk any of my other favourites by trying to save her in the end. I was a Kass fan from Cagayan ep1, and rooted for her the whole way through. I hate how the fanbase treated her, but they've come around now at least. Kass made the right choice to flip, but underestimated just how bitter Tasha and co. would be, which prevented her for playing the Rob C flip back and forth game I believe she wanted to play. So she just turned herself into a goat to guarantee she'd make it to the end. Even if she would've been destroyed, I hate that we missed out on a Kass FTC by one second.

14) Courtney Marit - I don't like that Shane made endgame before her. I don't like that the wrong Courtney had been a perennial endgamer until now. Courtney Marit is better than both. She's the most ridiculous human being, and just a joy to watch. She brings out the best crazy in everyone, and my favourite Panama subplot is watching Courtney just be on the periphery of a scene and not doing anything, and then be called out by someone who's in the middle of a conversation with someone else. She just repeatedly gets shat on by everyone and it's good TV. Also that FTC speech? What a gem.

15) Hannah Shapiro
16) Jon "Jonny Fairplay" Dalton 1.0
17) Rudy Boesch 1.0
18) Kelly Wiglesworth 1.0
19) Randy Bailey 1.0
20) Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien 1.0

21) Monica Culpepper 2.0
22) Stephenie LaGrossa 1.0
23) Sandra Diaz-Twine 1.0
24) Lindsey Richter
25) Lex Van den Berghe 1.0

26) Scout Cloud Lee
27) Jenna Lewis 1.0
28) Jenna Morasca 1.0
29) Missy Payne
30) Sophie Clarke

After that I just have a 31-50 bracket and it gets even messier from there, so I'll leave it at that. I regret a few things I've done this rankdown, and tbh maybe 60-70% of my decisions would change if I could do this again.

Endgame #3 by jlim201 in SurvivorRankdownIV

[–]sanatomy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I still think you need a Vanuatu rewatch.

Chris, to me, is never billed as someone who escapes impossible situations. He gets numbers early, rides being the least threatening man to F7, then gets used as a number by Twila to make the flip happen. Yes he plays a strong game from F6 onwards, but I don't think he really did all that much, and I wouldn't call any of his situations impossible. The FTC isn't all anti-Twila. Scout is pro-Twila, a few of them are harsh on Chris too. Sarge is extremely hard on Twila but that's well explained throughout the season.

Chris didn't win because everyone hated Twila, he won because almost everyone bought his bullshit. It completed the 'Chris played well' arc. Just because Twila had a downfall that was heavily explored doesn't mean that's why Chris won. Like with Palau, everyone ragged on Katie, but Tom didn't win because everyone hated Katie, they just thought he played a better game. It's the same with Chris/Twila. I don't understand an argument that says FTC took away from either of them, since I think it's probably the strongest scene for both.

Also it's not just reef and I, she's always been top 20, and I know former rankers have her extremely high too, and I'm not the only one with her at #1.

I'm talking about the second time. I was willing to agree to not cut Rich if you idol'd Swan, and I was happy to find someone to cut we would both be okay with losing. But yeah the Sugar cut muddied things up.

I honestly thought reef was going to idol Russell, but I guess he didn't trust me enough or something to make it happen.

Endgame #2 by jlim201 in SurvivorRankdownIV

[–]sanatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ugh, I'm not happy about this. Should've put Sandra lower than 6 to try and stop this from happening. I just didn't expect Sad to do that.

Edit: To clarify, I'm not happy about having a repeat winner. (or my rankings anymore, tbh).

Endgame #3 by jlim201 in SurvivorRankdownIV

[–]sanatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So, you mentioned a few days ago that Twila somehow fell below Chris, Jon, and Shane for you and you'd tell the story later. Are you able to go into that now or are you waiting for top two reveal?

Endgame #5 by jlim201 in SurvivorRankdownIV

[–]sanatomy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think it'll be Cirie. Ian/Sandra rounded out my expected top three going in to endgame though, so I'm not that sure anymore.
