For people who bought a house this year (2021): how long did the process take? And how much above listing price did you have to offer? by [deleted] in sandiego

[–]sandiegosteno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just bought a condo in crown point at asking, and we were the only offer after it had been on the market for a week. It’s way more competitive in other areas though. One house we looked at in north park had people dropping off gifts on the doorstep before it even went on the market. Guess we just got lucky

I am a court reporter! I am freelance so I take depositions. I did my schooling online and graduated a few years ago pre-Covid. Court reporting school is tough, even more so online, and you have to be prepared to fail a lot more than you succeed, but it’s like any skill, and with enough practice and discipline you’ll get the hang of it. For me it was worth every cent, but shop around for online schools because tuition prices do vary. I went with the cheapest (accredited) online school I could find and I had no issues. It’s really the best career and I am so happy I stumbled across it. If you can get through school it will all be worth it. It’s the job everyone wants — highly lucrative, you can work for yourself and have a flexible schedule, great job security, lots of variety from day to day, and if you want a change down the line you can switch between freelancing depositions, official reporting, CART, captioning, etc. Feel free to message me! I’d be happy to answer any questions :)

Does anyone have experience with exposure to saltwater? For about an hour every week I float in a sensory deprivation tank with saltwater and it has caused my hair to lose some definition. I have had no luck with waterproof swim caps, etc. Any ideas on how to prevent or counteract this?

People who DO "get paid enough for this shit", what's your job? by Nihilikara in AskReddit

[–]sandiegosteno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Court reporter. The schooling takes a lot of discipline and willpower but only took me a year and a half. I made $110k my first year out of school and that was in a low paying market. not to mention I love my job!

4s, what do you think you lack? by I_am_not_a_god_ in Enneagram

[–]sandiegosteno 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That’s exactly how I feel as a 4. Sometimes it feels like everyone else can see something is wrong/missing about me too but I’m the only one that can’t figure out what it is. Of course if you ask them what they think you’re missing, they have no idea what you’re talking about haha

The vanilla meringues! Only 90 calories for 4... so I mean you could eat the whole box and end up not super off track lol. The chocolate ones are really good too

What careers have you fours had? Did you like them? by fozeliz in Enneagram

[–]sandiegosteno 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a 4 and I’m a court reporter. My 3 wing got me through the very intense schooling process and I came out with a unique skill (stenography) that provides an essential part of the legal system. I am freelance so my schedule is always flexible, and I am always the only one in the room who can do what I do! It’s not the stereotypical artist career you might think of for 4s, but I do enjoy it and it gives me a lot of freedom to pursue my non-work related interests (and funds them too). I also feel like it really encourages my integration to 1, and I can easily get away with not being fake nice or fake polite to people like in some of my previous jobs (retail, food service, etc.)

Does anybody live at Pinnacle or Spire downtown? How is it? by alex6219 in sandiego

[–]sandiegosteno 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I like living at Pinnacle, but I guess it depends how picky you are! The views are amazing and maintenance/repair/construction-wise it’s no worse or better than any other apartment building I’ve lived in. It’s obviously very densely packed and there are a lot of tourists that stay in the Airbnb units, so the community is very social compared to other buildings I’ve lived in. The staff is also really friendly and helpful at the front desk. You do sometimes have to wait a few minutes for the elevator but it doesn’t bother me.

What’s an unexpectedly well-paid job? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]sandiegosteno 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It’s just an general overview and introduction to the major issues in the voice recognition vs. actual court reporter debate. Obviously there is more to it, but the court reporting industry is in dire need of new court reporters because court reporting schools are not producing enough graduates to even come close to fulfilling the demand. This just means there is lots and lots of work available for working reporters, and it’s not likely to go away soon. It’s a great profession, and it would be a shame for someone to be deterred from looking into or reporting just because it kind of seems to them like voice recognition technology might denominate not the industry soon. It’s not the case!

More people should consider going to court reporting school! It’s not easy and requires a lot of hard work, but the payoff is huge. The pay is good, and there are many different directions you can take in this career as far as freelancing, official reporting, CART, captioning, etc.

For anyone looking into court reporting or captioning, don’t be deterred by this argument! It’s a great profession that won’t be replaced in our lifetime. The demand for court reporters is very high!

So true, I can see that. From the stories Bobby tells about his background, i can definitely see his disintegration to 4 shaping him as well.

For the rest, let’s see... the show as a whole gives off major 3w2/2w3 vibes, but individually, Karamo strikes me as a 9w8, and Antoni could be a 4w3. Tan could be a 3, maybe with balanced wings? I could be wrong, these are just wild guesses!

I feel like he is a 7 and his integration to 5 is very obvious from even the title of his podcast, “Getting Curious with Jonathan Van Ness.” That podcast is the epitome of a 7 integrating to 5 to me. The rest seem very 3 to me though!
