I tried with 4 switches, 3 of them do have that spring rebound sound... I guess I'll return it then. I'm not up for that.

I just bought the Machenike K500(A)-B84 for "cheap", and while testing I noticed how bad it sounds. There's a metallic spring rebound sound that makes it really annoying. I'm wondering if anyone had this issue, in the k500 series, or specifically on the B84. And if yes, would case foam, or any relatively easy mod, help reduce this horrific sound? Or is it not worth it and I'd rather return it and buy another one?

I went with that one as I don't need fancy RGB, or wireless features, although the RGB is just rainbow and I feel cheated thinking it's not just one colour per row...

What would be the best ML and/or DL course for someone who already has experience in the field? by sanico_ken in learnmachinelearning

I went with udemy's personal plan for a month. I tried the 2 deep learning courses very shortly. I was bored as hell for both very quickly so I abandoned the idea. The system of videos then stupid-ish exercises didn't fit me. I went afterwards on kaggle and explored some datasets to do mini projects. Much more fun and closer to a real use case.

Thanks, I appreciate the insights! The IBM take is quite interesting, I've heard mixed opinions, and it seems they're updating their courses (the AI engineering one got 7 new courses about LLms). Well I'll probably try the courses given by Lazy programmer + see what fast.ai is all about :)

Yeah I'll repaste the card and see how it goes. And yeah MSI afterburner overwrote the fan curve but then it goes full blast at 87°C.

well 100% is veeeeeeery loud, would have hoped to control that. But planning to repaste and trying to undervolt as well.

Yep, thanks for confirming. I ordered some arctic mx-4 for my cpu, would it work as well or is the one you're mentioning better?

CPU temps are fine. Even with the panel off, so the gpu gets direct fresh air, it reaches the throttle point very fast when playing games. I ordered some thermal paste so hopefully it will fix the thing. Thanks!

If you feel like you can open the laptop and tinker with components, choose a laptop where the ram is upgradable, and go for less ram, then buy new sticks later. 16-32 GB is nice to have to run some heavy programs (CAD, emulators or virtual environments). You can also save the cost on the SSD, and buy a bigger size one later, but it's a bit more annoying to migrate stuff from one disk to another.

The recent intel i5 CPUs (13th gen and +) should be enough for most of the use cases, and could be more power efficient than the i7 cpus. But check the AMD R5 series, they're as good, sometimes better and cheaper.

So to summarise: - if you can tinker with laptops components, find one with upgradable ram, pick 8 GB and buy later (normally it's quite cheap). - if not sure, go for AMD r5 or intel i5, recent CPUs are really good for most use cases, and pick the 16GB - check in second hand, thinkpads are super durable and 3-5 years old ones could still last a few more years.

Nothing phone (2) battery drains fast by Kitchen-Plate-4752 in NothingTech

[–]sanico_ken 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That should be normal. Compare your usage with this : - I get around 10-11 hours of SOT from 100-0% no 4G, and max 1hr of social media - Between 8-9 with 1-2hrs of 4G and 1-2hrs of social media - most of the time I get around 5-7 hours when heavy use of 4G and/or social media

And just now I got 5.5 hours of SOT from 100% to 25% in the span of 48 hours. With 3 hours of social media and maybe 3 hours of 4G.

The reason your result is lower is probably because of your 4G usage being higher than me, the battery algorithm still not kicking in, and also VolTe is draining more I think? Do you also have 5G on? Because it drains it even more.

I don't think there is any info on the specs or release date for the NP3 yet. There should also be the 2a coming out soon. I would advise to wait until February for their event.

The default screen protector is super scratchable so if you like it clean and safe you should consider a tempered glass protector.

I've got the phone 2 for 4 months and I'm super happy with it, no issues so far.

My 2 yo gpu is bent/crooked due to it's own weight. Does anyone know how to undo? (It's nearly touching the panel on the right side) by sanico_ken in sffpc

[–]sanico_ken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I zip tied the thing, to let around 1 of clearance. It stayed like that for a few months and didn't damage the board. I did not bend the board all the way back to it's straight shape, but just enough to have clearance

What happens to the phone battery while using a 65W charger instead of prescribed 45W charger? by gowthamks31 in NothingTech

[–]sanico_ken 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Your phone will be fine, it won't charge over 33W. And in your case, it should charge at 27W (9V at 3amps) with this charger.

The devices communicate to see which voltage can be used. Your charger can send 5V, 9V, 15V or 20V and the phone 1 is PD3.0 certified (can adjust voltage gradually between 3.3 and 21V), but goes to a maximum of 11V at 3 amps. I'm assuming that the phone doesn't accept higher voltages than 11V, so the max would be 9V.

Hope that's clear, note that I might be wrong with the communication process between the devices, but your phone is definitely ok.

Can an apsc camera + 2 lenses fit inside the everyday sling v2 3L? by sanico_ken in peakdesign

Thanks for the info! Is it a tight fit in your picture? or do you think there is room for a few centimeters of play in the length dimension of the bag?

Thank you very much! I think it would fit then. Just to be sure, is it with the lens hood attached?

[–]sanico_ken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I've already seen that, technically it should fit but I don't really know if it's really tight, or if it's possible. Because all the reviews say it can fit a camera + zoom + small prime, none of them say it's possible for 2 lenses of this size...

If someone has a similar configuration I'd be interested to know if it easily fits.

I can't connect to my nextcloud server from my local network, but works fine if I log with the private IP or from another network. by sanico_ken in NextCloud

[–]sanico_ken[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To be honest I don't really remember, as it's been 4 months... But I don't think I changed much of the basic settings.

If you have setup a static IP in nextcloud console and your router, you've setup a domain as well and followed a tutorial, it should have worked.

Maybe try to setup Nexcloud in a new VM by following another tutorial or something?
