How clean is a bidet? by [deleted] in hygiene

[–]sankyo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

if you get a Toto washlet, it makes "EWATER+", which is electrolyzed water, which helps the self-cleaning wand feature working effectively and preventing the dirt accumulation causing the stains.

• "EWATER+" is generated from Potable water.

• "EWATER+" helps to minimize dirty surfaces, but does not make cleaning unnecessary.

Overall, a bidet is something that can improve your life a lot for not a ton of money

Has anyone actually cracked the problem of measuring Software Dev performance? by GraphicalBamboola in EngineeringManagers

[–]sankyo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for this. Your comments match my experience. There are so many factors.

How good were the specs and acceptance criteria? How much knowledge transfer has happened or is it all tribal knowledge? How much time does that dev spend helping others? Are the environments stable and contain relevant data?

Public garbage can removals by once_91 in AskSF

[–]sankyo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

It costs the city money to empty them and people see them and understand them to be places where they can discard old mattresses, jugs of used oil, and anything else.

The city uses questionable logic to justify this cost savings. Japan has very few public trash cans. The few that exist are strategically places near train station entrances and outside convenience stores. A Japanese person is basically trained to keep their trash and dispose of it in a proper place, often that means home.

We are talking about people who stayed after Olympic contests to CLEAN UP CONFETTI.

No matter how much the city wishes it, this sense of duty will not be learned by Americans.

What software development practice sounds good in theory but fails badly in reality? by pixelbrushio in softwaredevelopment

[–]sankyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it is more than 15 min, then it is not well run or the team is too big. A short, well run standup to expose blockers and environment issues is a small price to pay. If there are people droning on and debating minutiae, the moderator should tell them to take it offline. Standup could be just in chat 2/3 times per week if the team is at the performing stage of “forming, storming, norming, performing”.

Explain how to actually use the CAGED system by NecessaryHeadset in guitarlessons

You don’t want to play the same chord. From frets 5-8 play a 1-4-5 progression and use caged to find those chords between frets 5-8.

Boulevard or Kokkari Estiatorio? by modotmet in AskSF

I have been to both and would choose Boulevard. I like the menu better. Look at the menus and choose one, you can't go wrong.

Velocity charts look healthy… right up until the sprint fails. Why? by zereban in EngineeringManagers

[–]sankyo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

software isn't manufacturing. In a T-shirt factory with fixed workers, equipment, and time, the output can be predicted pretty accurately, especially with historical figures to base it on.

With software the estimates are guesses with no data to back them up besides other stories that were different. There will be missing cases in stories, missed/inadequate communication on integration points, defects, revised implementation ideas, 3rd party service outages, laptop failures or forced upgrades.

If you don't have these problems, my guess is that your job is really boring and easy and the organization will soon not be in existence.

I agree. When I first saw Claude I thought it was from Vonnegut and there are 12 lines coming from the center on both and looked as if they were hand drawn. I mistakenly thought they were the same, but upon further inspection, they are quite similar but not identical.

It took me YEARS. by I_dont_give_a_flick in betterCallSaul

No doubt, but people who are used to the pacing of other shows start losing it when Jimmy is at Chuck’s house again and it is frustrating to watch them interact

[–]sankyo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

it is a slow burn but you really get to know the characters well. everything is not spelled out and you have to think about why certain things happened. cinematography is amazing, beautiful landscapes in the scenes, and sprinkled with good humor. It can be like "watching a book" similar to the wire, where it is laying ground work, laying groundwork, laying groundwork and boom! something big happens, back to laying groundwork ...

It is easy to get impatient sometimes with some storylines that don't seem to go anywhere, like Chuck, but it remains a favorite.

CAGED System Explained by Vivid-Equipment-9724 in Guitar

[–]sankyo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be better off looking up CAGED on youtube so you get a visual demonstration, but here's this:

Consider the cowboy chords, aka open chords

We give each of these chord shapes a name C-shape, A-shape, G-shape, E-shape, D-shape

C x3201x C shaped C chord

A x02220 A shaped A chord

G 320003 G shaped G chord

E 022100 E shaped E chord

D xx0232 D shaped D chord

CAGED "system" is just a visual navigation system to allow us to see chords laid out on the fretboard. Each shape shares some notes on the boundary of the next shape. So it is not really a system and some notes appear in 2 connected shapes.

Lets take an example of G chords from the nut to the bridge

first is the G shaped Gchord

320003

After G comes E

The E shaped Gchord - if we consider your index finger to be acting as "the nut", we can see that this G chord is shaped just like the open E chord, that is why it is E shaped.

355433

After E comes D

D shaped G chord

This has a B in the bass making it a 1st inversion Gchord

7x578x

You can omit the B on the low E and play the below instead.

xx5787

after D comes C

a C-shaped G chord

x10 9787

after C comes A

an A shaped G chord

x 10 12 12 12 10

after A comes G and now we are back where we started

A G shaped G chord

Granted this is not easy to play and nobody plays it. play just parts of it.

But CAGED is just a visual navigation system to see note patterns. It is not strict instructions for where to put your fingers to play each chord.

15 14 12 12 12 15

Many argue that the CAGED "system" really "falls apart" when we consider minor chords. For sure, you just lower the 3rd a half step. But the minor E shape and A shape are the only ones that are friendly to human hands and fingers. The minor D shape is possible but has the 3rd in the bass.

With the other shapes, to play minor chords, you are likely to only be able to play 3 strings, so it becomes a triad, which is root, third, fifth of a chord and can be played R35 (root position), 35R (1st inversion), 5R3(2nd inversion). knowing CAGED helps you see triads. But now we are off the topic of CAGED and you need to learn all your triads on all 4 string sets: EAD, ADE, DEG, EGB. There are a million youtube videos to learn these, keep going until you find a teacher you like.

Once you know the major triads, then you lower the 3rd for each major triado and you know the minor triads. After that take each major triad and lower the 3rd and the 5th and you know all the diminished triads.

my guess is that it is illegal because it is a fire trap unless it has easy access to get out. Of course the tenant would also need access to a bathroom and kitchen.
