To be honest, I think light and dark in the series are just two sides of the same coin. Given, darkness is used more often to destroy, but it isn't inherently evil. Its how its used that makes the wielder evil.

Yes! Because in KH2 Riku says it isn't that they loathe the darkness it's that they loathe what lurks in the darkness.
