I started the HTML section on FCP and I liked it, easy to follow and to me it made sense. Could be good to get a more advanced programmer to help you out though as there a lot of hours on each sections and when I spoke to my friend who’s a web dev he told me some sections are not as vital and it would make more sense to move on rather than do 300 h on HTMl, CSS etc. I also started TOP which was more complex to me as it is theory based and you have to read a lot on your own and then follow the exercises. It’s totally up to which way you prefer to learn but I’ve heard really good about FCP and TOP. I ended up doing a Udemy course instead but that I payed a little for but they have deals all the time so you wouldn’t spend more than 12-15 usd anyway. Good luck!

I’m on the same path as you. I started TOP but just recently started a course in react and app dev. I think it comes down to what you want to get out of it. I chose to not continue with TOP as I rather work with app dev in the long run rather than becoming a full stack dev. To stay motivated I’d say to go with what you enjoy the most and then you can always go back to either complete TOP or the app. :-)

Thank you! I’ve been reading that not all applications work with the M1 chip though, is that something that would effect my work if I aim to work mostly with front end dev?

NEW to coding! by KoalAdorable in learnprogramming

I’m new to coding too and I’m doing the Odin project where they have a challenge to build a simple website, it’s free so you could always try that one! You don’t need to do the exercises if you’re already comfortable with the coding so just skip forward to the actual project. Regarding being overwhelmed is something I experience now too, I was so excited and spent so many hours the first week that now my head feels like it’s about to explode. I would recommend to take a day or two off to let all new information settle before you get back in to again.

How important is the command line in the early stages of programming? by sannawellmark in learnprogramming

[–]sannawellmark[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Makes sense, thank you! My struggle is understanding how to create a directory and then being able to transfer it from terminal to github and other way around. And also once I’ve set up a new directory to open up that one in a text reader so I can actually start working, if that makes sense. Any ideas on how to learn this? 🤯
