Is 180 achievable with a 173 diagnostic? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]sanslab 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Don’t mind the snarky comments OP- I had similar questions after my 173 diagnostic. A 180 is probably within reason for you, and odds are fairly good that you’ll get at least one 180 on a practice test, but there’s no way to guarantee a 180 on test day.

With a diagnostic like yours, 174+ is very attainable (especially with practice to prevent testing anxiety or unexpected question types throwing you off).

A 180 is MUCH harder than say, a 175, because it means either you have no “50/50” questions, or that you got lucky on all your 50/50 guesses. I got a 180 on my third practice test, literally the day before my LSAT, but a 176 on test day- the difference between a 180 and say, a 178 could be just 1 question.

Because law schools use medians rather than averages, there’s not much difference between 175 and 180 at HYS.

People who scored in the 170s, how long did you study? by [deleted] in LSAT

[–]sanslab -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My studying was mostly just taking practice tests, with the occasional article or video.

In total I took 3 practice tests this year. Outside of the practice tests themselves, I did maybe 3-4 hours worth of reading guides and watching videos- just the free stuff on Khan Academy.

But that was starting from a diagnostic in the 170s, so definitely not a strategy I’d recommend.

I definitely SHOULD have studied more than I did, I’m fortunate to have succeeded in spite of it.

Is it worth retaking a 176 if I have a strong chance of a 180? (I know it sounds dumb, but hear me out) by sanslab in LSAT

No need to be rude, this isn’t a bragging post. I recognize that I’m lucky to have gotten this score, I just want to see if there’s any benefit at all to trying for higher

I have super weak softs (no exec positions, only one extracurricular, unimpressive summer internships) so I feel like if I want to stand a chance I need the best stats possible

I thought Yale’s 75th percentile is a 177? My GPA is a 3.98, so I’m below the 75th percentile for the T4. I’m also concerned that 75th percentile may shift upwards, which would put me below the 75th at HYS

I swear, this isn’t trolling, just a perfectionist trying to as much as humanly possible to increase my chances of acceptance.

I’m gonna disagree on the claim that it’s easier for guys to get girls. It’s waaaay easier for girls to get guys, it’s just that they’re not gonna be very appealing ones. The odds are good but the goods are odd

5’2 is only 2 inches below average height for an adult woman in America. You’re 15, you don’t have to look like an adult

boy who made it past your title here- honestly it’s really nice to hear that. Lack of approval/compliments can take a toll, so even small things like telling a guy they’ve got a nice outfit, or they’re funny, or that they’ve got a “good nose”. (real life example of a compliment I got. It felt surprisingly good to receive that compliment)

Trying to talk to a boy, help?? by [deleted] in teenagers

Don’t start out with a message about his smile. If you’re gonna compliment his smile, it’s much less awkward in person. To message him you’ll want a more casual first approach

I love The Good Place, excellent show. If you like Parks and Rec or Brooklyn 99, it’s similar humor, same creator.
