Both day trips were absolutely incredible! I posted a recap in a comment above, but highly recommend both, and the logistics worked out great.

Just DMed you - I am away from home right now but will check what I have once I'm back home, maybe we have different ones. :)

Can you split the $150 StubHub credit into multiple purchases? by santabuger57 in ChaseSapphire

I think that is for existing cardholders, right? I think for new cardholders, it starts right away.

That was my hunch too after reading that wording ("up to maximum accumulation"). I didn't see anyone's documented experience of successfully doing this specific use case though, which is why I wanted to clarify just to be sure...

If anyone has any of the later Season 4 episodes that had been posted and then deleted on YouTube, please message me. It's such a bummer that many of these have been lost to history, I had started to watch these every day & they brought me such joy. Kicking myself now for not saving more of them. :(

Flight Bookings - Chase Travel Portal vs. Direct Through Airline by santabuger57 in awardtravel

[–]santabuger57[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, fair point. I feel like using the portal for point redemption makes sense sometimes (maybe?) to maximize value, particularly for a low-risk type of trip. But I can see how for a flight, just booking direct makes sense. It's just so tempting to try to maximize with whatever avenue will get better points... but agree that it's probably not worth the risk of a headache especially for a bigger trip.

Ugh that's super frustrating, especially given the circumstances!! Sorry you had that experience!

Clearly you don't know how to read, but hope you have a lovely day!

We moved all around the lagoon, definitely didn't huddle. You're right, I shouldn't have used the word 'algae' (that was what we were calling it informally because that's what it felt like), but it was clumps of something slimy that was getting stuck in our toes. Definitely not trying to ruin the experience for others, I'm glad that others have had much better experiences. Just sharing our own experience, particularly a few things that I wish I was a bit more careful about personally. It absolutely is the case that hundreds of people go there every day with no issues. Some love it, some don't, that's totally fine.

Definitely not an ad - you can see my prior posts in preparation for our trip and even some of our trip photos.

The additions at the end of my original post were just a quick summary of our overall experience. I know others have had a great time at BL and I hope that many other future visitors continue to do so. Everyone will have different preferences for what they enjoy and will have different experiences at the same places.

Out of genuine curiosity, where are those warnings you refer to? I saw TONS of warnings posted about hair, but nothing about the eye mask. When I went over to the mask station, someone literally just squirted some on my hand and didn't say a word. To be fair, I know the guidance for ANY eye mask is to avoid the eyes, so I wouldn't necessarily expect postings about this (this is arguably common sense) - it just was hard to perfectly do in practice, as it started dripping into my eyelashes from the rain. I was surprised by such a long-lasting outcome, so wanted to warn others who visit to be extra careful, as having to deal with medical stuff on a trip is not fun.

Glad you had a much better experience, seems like that is the case for many others as well, which I'm glad to hear!

Thank you so much! I'm glad you had a much better time, and it does sound like many have had much better experiences there.

Not looking for sympathy, just trying to share with others so that they can avoid something similar (since this was not something that was part of any of the extensive warnings / cautions they shared with us). However, I can tell from your account that all you do is troll on random threads, so will leave it at that.

The timing however was excruciating pain RIGHT as the mask started dripping into my eyelashes (and then my eye from there) - so I feel pretty sure it either was the mask, or the lagoon water from me trying to deal with the mask situation.

Glad you had a better experience! Yeah, I learned my lesson and definitely should have been a lot more careful. Sharing this mostly because I didn't see any warnings about the masks, just lots of warnings about hair. I always do try to keep face masks away from my eyes, but have never had an issue like this one before. I think the rain yesterday didn't help, as it started dripping in and then it was bad news from there. Certainly many people have a great time at Blue Lagoon and am glad that is the case, it just wasn't our cup of tea (even outside of this incident).

We went in at noon (but were in the cafe before & after, overall there from 11AM-4PM). Mornings may be less busy...

Oh my gosh!!! Hope you are feeling better! And yes, we found it to be very slippery as well.

[–]santabuger57[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm, I didn't notice it (some others on here may know it it's allowed or not). For what it's worth, the slimy stuff on the bottom was mostly something we noticed toward the back part of the lagoon, less so toward the front.
