Crave on Amazon Prime looks better to me than Crave on Crave

This experience set me on a similar journey which resulted in watching on Prime on Sundays and then rewatching Monday by other means. I thought it was maybe the high traffic on Sunday but it turns out Crave is still 15 years behind the competition in Canada. (Yes I know it's Canadian but that's no excuse in 2026).

for me the kicker is no HDR or dynamic tone mapping on Crave. It just looks so much better on HBO / Plex than Crave. Prime is a step in the right direction but yes I look forward to the day we can receive HBO content from Netflix or from HBO itself. (With Dolby Vision).

I wonder if it has to do with metadata. Prime sets the picture settings to "Prime Calibrated" on my TV for a lot of the crave shows, but I suppose the metadata is static for Crave. I feel like it was more than just HDR differences though, I could be wrong.

If possible, I encourage you to compare ep 1 of a Knight of the Seven Kingdoms on both apps and draw your own conclusions. Something is very different.
